Why choose the izula over other neckers?

Look at the Krein TK-1(cpm 3v). They pop up on the forum now and then. It is the nicest necker I've handled bar none.

I own a Becker Necker and it's a good knife, but too big IMHO. The only neckknife I wear (and I wear it quite a bit) is the Buck Mayo Kalaa. It's by far the most comortable of all the neckers I've tried. It did require a new custom sheath (the one it came with SUCKS) but the knife itself is brilliant.

Of the 6 neckers I own, it's by far my favourite.

I've had the Izula, Swamp Warden, and a custom that's not readily available last I checked. Of the Izula and Swamp Warden, the Izual was more comfortable to hold. The deeper choil made it feel more secure. Using the Swamp Warden, I was always afraid my hand would slip on to the blade because of the shallow choil. Because of that, I never really used the Warden to stab anything hard. Now my Bill Coye Ridgeback, the custom, is the most comfortable of all three, but that's probably because it has sculpted g10 handles. I'd wager, it's also the toughest of the bunch. The maker has stabbed it through refrigerators without chipping or bending the edge. He does his own heat treat in house too, which is pretty amazing considering what the knives can handle.

They also cost about over 3 times as much as the Swamp Warden.

I think the Buck Kalaa is a pure neck knife, cuz you don't have other option to carry it :P
the blade shape is much like spear point to me.
So how did you deal with the handle? did you cord wrap it or put some scales on it?

I've tried the Izula, Swamp Warden and Bark river bravo necker. All three are perfectly acceptable and I wouldn't try to sway someone one way or the other. I like the Swamp Warden the best as a knife but find it's a tad longer and heavier than the Izula which makes it noticeable while wearing. Not bad but noticeable.

The bravo necker is the lightest and stainless so it's the one I'll be taking on vacation to the beach.

To me the Izula is the best overall for use and carry comfort but I did strip the coating off mine and it will rust during a day of outdoor summer work. Knowing what I know now I'd leave it coated.

It would be no problem at all to attach a TekLok to the sheath, carry it on the belt or on a rig.

Yep, cordwrapped it myself. Still thin, but gives excellent purchase.

oops somehow I just *accidentally* ordered an Izula.. being home from school with a Job is awesome.. :D

The other day I loaned my Izula to someone and he gave it back with the tip broke off and chips out of the blade.
I e-mailed Esee, filled out a form and they're replacing it for me, free of charge.
Great company and they stand behind their product.
That kind of customer service is worth it's weight in gold.

^ That really helps secure my purchase of the Izula.. this will be my second RAT to own. I have a Model 1 that I'm absolutely in love with.

I heard that Jeff Randall is carrying a broken tip Izzie, might be yours...;)

wow wow i hear so many good things about izula i was looking narrow minded at only specs and price when the real way to look at it is from its ability to do work and testimony from other users. i guess thats what matters most. i buy now, but i dont buy becker.

I know Swamp Rat would do the same and expect Becker/Kabar would as well.

For me the handle to blade ratio and the resulting balance is one main reason that I like my Izula so much. Plus Rowen's 1095 is good stuff.
