Why did Benchmade discontinue the 630 skirmish?

I still have mine, and it is one of my favorite big folders. Opens like butter, lightning fast, and I have never had a problem with the holes.

I got my skirmish the I heard it was being discontinued. I always wanted it, but I didn't pull the trigger until I had to. I also didn't like the rainbow dots.

The thing about Benchmade that I never understood, aside from getting rid of some of their best models, is why the hell didn't they offer more options, particularly with Balisongs? I could be wrong but I think they offered some with stainless steel handles at one time, then it was all about titanium, especially with the 42. I never understood why they didn't offer brass, stainess steel, AND titanium. The old Pacific Cutlery had lots of options. Of course they went out of business but even so Benchmade was smart by branching into other kinds of knives after the 80's balisong craze fizzled out....

I can attest to that there were many times I saw knives that appealed to me and I took it for granted they would always be available until the day they are discontinued.

I can't say enough good things about the Skirmish the advertisements could never do it justice it's quality was plain astounding (jawdropping.) The ruckus is another one. I have to say Blackwood's designs are awesome.
