CRK Sebenza 31
I would hate to see everyone pile on just you, so I'll add the CRK Impinda for me.
What caused me to be this way is I dropped a beloved Sebenza once on a concrete sidewalk. It bounced and skidded a bit. I immediately felt sick to my stomach but after picking it up and inspecting it, I found only very minor damage. I guess I got very very lucky that it didn’t suffer any major dings but that incident caused me to hardly ever carry the knife again unless it was in the house and on carpet. I eventually sold the Seb since I hardly used it but I got to missing it and have bought and sold several after it. I just can’t bring myself to carry an expensive knife anymore. I’m much happier carrying my Kershaw Leek or other similarly priced knife. Lately I’ve been carrying a multitool as my primary blade source. This ^^^^ is exactly my feeling these days .
I Didn't start out that way ;but finally realized I derived MUCH more enjoyment ,from my user / beater / carry knifes, than from the safe queens , that I could only gently fondle .![]()
My formal knife is either a sage 2 or a spidichef. Classy and nearly invisible with the wire clip, or so I tell myself....I bought an mnandi with box elder about a week ago...as soon as i took it out of the box and realized how small it is i regretted it immediately. Tried to give an excuse to myself that it's nice when i'm somewhere dressed more formally than usual ...but i didn't buy it!
Subjective opinion here of course, but 435 USD for that thing.....just no. I prefer my ferrum forge gent CF for these, admittedly, rare occasions.
I was a bit underwhelmed with the sebenza as well. I got a large plain drop point one, i could immediately tell that it's a well made folder and great utilitarian design, but nothing that i couldn't live without.
The one i regret selling is the original Ratmandu with black micarta (which looked more blue than black and i really liked it), sage coating and a nice custom kydex sheath in digital camo...![]()
I have some minty SHFs that only get fondled. Primarily I carry a user Talos or Mordax or some flavor of ZT.What caused me to be this way is I dropped a beloved Sebenza once on a concrete sidewalk. I know just what you mean. I had this Benchmade Mini Crooked River in 20cv that I absolutely loved, until I dropped it on concrete, and a piece of the stabilized-wood handle scale broke off, in the thin little spot behind the lanyard hole. I knew after that, that I wouldn't be able to really EDC it with any regularity, since I'd have to worry about damaging it all the time, even with new scales. I eventually got some bronze scales for it, but still never EDC'd it, as I'd gotten a Hogue/Ritter Mini RSK which stood up to my abusive work much better, despite ostensibly being made of the same stuff. What caused me to be this way is I dropped a beloved Sebenza once on a concrete sidewalk. I hear ya. I wish I could have felt that way. I guess where it only sustained very minor damage I felt like I got lucky and was afraid to take any more chances with it. It was an older sheath only P model made before the pocket clip addition.vwb563 Dropping your CRK should have been what set you free & let you make it a user.
Don’t regret - there are much nicer custom makers to give your business to.I've been eyeballing a Marfione Custom. I'm pre-regretting that purchase. Should make the real regret easier to stomach when the time comes.
I think Microtechs are overpriced already and a Marfione's price is astronomical if not comical.I've been eyeballing a Marfione Custom. I'm pre-regretting that purchase. Should make the real regret easier to stomach when the time comes.

Lesson learned. Now, I only look to spend extra $$$ on stuff that will last a long time of daily use, preferably relatively inexpensive, with high quality steels in the blade, either coming with metal handle scales, or having aftermarket metal scales available.
