Hey guys. Bought my first buck knife(112) maybe 2 weeks ago. And after using it at work(construction, im a pipefitter) to cut through sheetrock, open packages, cut cardboard and zipties, i was so impressed i picked up an older one on the bay that just got here today. Ive got an esse candiru and a knife from battle horse knives that would be dull everyday after work. I freaking shaved hair off my arm with my 112 immediately after cutting holes in sheetrock!

Heres a pic. I think ill hang aroud you guys for awhile. You guys know whats what:thumbup:

I use a lot of different Buck knives for all kind if tasks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Q

The 112 is my favorite Buck knife. If I could get use to carrying a sheath on my belt, I would carry one all the time...

Ive just been jamming it in my pocket. But ive got a low profile horizontal sheath being custom made for it from a guy on etsy. Not big on that place, but theres alot of people willing to work with you. The dudes shop is called penguinoproductions

Congrats. And I only learned about the 112 maybe two years ago myself; and it's also my favorite.

Ha x 3!
With over a 100 years in the business,
Buck knives are still in their prime.
I m sure lots of other newbie cutlery up starts
Could be blindly trying to reinventing the wheel
Without realizing just what it takes to make a really great knife.
The ranger 112. Is a favorite of mine
Much More than the 110 i might add.
I favor the finger grooved model
Partly because it cuts some of the weight down.
And yeah, there is much less brass to carry about
Besides the periodic hand buffing to keep it in a nice sparking golden hue.
Stick around, i m sure you would find other gems in time.

Thanks guys. I think my next buck is gonna be a 112 from 1989. I dunno why, but its awful cool to me that i could be carrying around and using a knife that was made the same year i was born

fish, welcome. From the looks of it your top knife in the photo is a 2 dot. That's a 440C blade. Good stuff. You procure a 89 model and you'll have a blade of 425M steel. That's 3 different steels w/ 2 different grinds. I smell some testing coming. DM

Oh really? Then testing is definately in order. I wonder which will hold up best to sheetrock?
Now i gotta stalk the exchange and the bay. :D

The 440C will hold its edge longer, I would think. Buck's heat treat gets a lot of mileage out of steels like 425M and 420HC, however. Nice find on that older Buck.

Great choice! The 112 was my first Buck knife, when I was a scout in the '70s. A real workhorse, and just the right size.

Im still kinda awestruck by these knives. Im actually mad at myself for not picking up any of bucks knives earlier. I just sharpened and put a few notches in some sticks. Both knives are still sharp enough to shave.

Very nice Bucks. I think it will need a 110 to complete your set ;)

I would pick one up, but unfortunately ive got girly hands. I held both the 110 and 112 in the store and honestly, the 110 is just too beastly for me. I also live in an area where i get weird looks when i pull out the 112. I cant imagine what the sheeple would do if i busted a 110 outta my back pocket.

I love the 110, but the 112 is such a nice size and actually fits my hand better. I find myself carrying it a lot.

Nice find and nice Bucks. I know that area you live in all too well having moved from the county just below yours in 1976. Yeah the bad one or at least it was back at that time. Since then I've been able to wear, carry, pocket and use a Buck any time I damn well please.

Sounds like you're on your way to a bunch more Bucks, and it is really nice to know you're using one as a daily work mate. Pretty sure we'll see a lot more of you around here.
