  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Why did Spyderco decide to make their flagship model in Taiwan?

I personally like the Taiwan f&f, but... I dislike needing to explain why I just spent $644 on a knife when that big Taichung banner is noticed. Takes a lot of time explaining about international economics and manufacturing quality that I would rather spend doing other things.
We understand, not many others do.
It's a good opportunity to undo other people's biases regarding Taiwanese manufacturing.

Move fast.

I think knives made in Seki City and Taiwan are some of their best made knifes. I tend to prefer the Taiwan models when I was buying Spyderco.
Seki definitely has spyderco's worst quality by a mile. Poor blade grinds, poor finish quality, poor centring... They do have the nicest FRN though. Every single Seki I've handled had some kind of glaring imperfection.

Delica/Endura Ti; Japan. PITS, Italy, Native/Military Fluted, Military Ti, USA.
I saw some speculation that the fluted scales on the Native Ti were farmed out to Three Rivers Manufacturing. It was only someone's hunch, but it was presented in a space where TRM owners pay attention, and there were no denials (which led to more speculation about NDAs and such). Of course, even if true, it's still domestic production.
