Why did you buy that knife?

lol. I saw you did bid on a Muela I put on the bay recently. Did this thread make you reconsider? :D

I have been curbing my knife buying addiction. I only have 3 more knives to add pics of to that thread, but my list of future Spanish blades to buy is down to just 2 and I might wait til I go to Spain next year to get them. Then again, when I get there I bet it will be very difficult to limit purchases to just those 2 ;)

Nope, I bid on it early in the auction cycle and meant to go back this morning but I started working on a knife throwing target out in the shop and forgot to get on line and bid on it.

I've been cutting back on buying lately as well. I'm trying to limit it to looking for certain US bayonets, US military knives (1900 and later) and some Westerns/Kabars. I have a bunch of duplicate knives I need to get rid of that I have accumulated as better condition versions have come available but I'm a procrastinator when it comes to getting rid of stuff. It's like "How many BOC M7 bayonets or Imperial M5/M6 bayonets do I need?"

Just a pack rat at heart, I guess. I mean, it seems like if I get rid of something, the next day/week/month, I need something where "Dang, I just got rid of that". The latest example was "Why am I keeping this 2 ton bottle jack? I have a 5 ton." So I sold it. Not a week later, I needed a jack that was 1/2 inch shorter that my 5 ton jack. So guess who had to go to Barber Fright and get a 2 ton jack?

Because since I was a child I have had the natural desire to find the "perfect knife". As my knowledge, experience, skills, tastes and needs change, I find my idea of the "perfect knife" also changes.

I have come to the realization that the "perfect knife" does not exist. And the hunt for the "perfect knife" is merely the result of natural selection and man's need to continually prepare and fight to survive.

However after years of searching and with my current knowledge, experience, skills, tastes and needs, I believe the the Becker line to be as close to the "perfect knives" that I will ever find. So I buy them... A lot of them :)
