Why didn't I buy a mini-trapper before now?

This has quickly become my favorite traditional knife. I'm not sure why I haven't used a mini-trapper before now...

I have thought of the mini many times and am sure I will ask the same question if I ever grab one. Great look to those scales and wonderful pic imo.

It feels good to get a knife you automatically bond with doesn't it.

Does anyone know how far back the mini goes. I wouldn't mind looking for an older one? I suppose I could look this up but I'm doing lesson plans, or maybe I'm just being lazy. :)

Well, looks like it's even newer, at least in the clip/spey blade combo.

You are correct except for the pattern number. The 6207 with standard clip and pen blade configuration (CV) had been in the Case line since thw pre WWII years. In mid to late 1979, it was discontinued and the basic pattern was used for the new "Mini Trapper" pattern number 6207 SP SSP. The mini as originally configured had bone handles, California clip and spey blades (SS) with glazed finish and etching on the main blade.

If you like the Case 07 pattern you might also try the Tidioute Cutlery #15 in the "Farm Boy" configuration. Built on the #15 Boy's Knife frame it has a full size clip and Spey Blade.

Great little knife. I really like the way they do the clip blades on the recent models. For daily carry, I way prefer it over the full sized trappers. It's plenty of knife for most tasks.

Here's a photo of my late '60's era mini trapper. I love mine, but like the spey blade on the newer versions a lot too.

Thats one of my favorite configurations Stephen...you have a beauty there.

Blumetalchurch, I love the covers on your newer model...chestnut bone?

I think the first Case pocket knife I bought with my own money was a mini Trapper. Great knife.
While 'mini' compared to the original, they really aren't that small. I would probably carry a mini over the original most of the time.

This is Carlos' spy-cam, and this is my spy-cam? Look at the size of this thing! Size matters. But in the spy world, it's reversed. You want people to say, "Look how small and sexy and sleek this is." Not "How huge this is! Look at what he pulled out of his pants. It's huge!" - I SPY

I love the mini with the warnie/clip combo.

Don't like the traditional clip/spey on either the mini or reg size trappers. I haven't found a good use for the spey that another style doesn't do better.

I never liked the full size trapper because I don't like feeling the closed blades movement when gripping the handles while cutting. The mini doesn't do this.
