Reason: Because.
Use: I generally use mine to do the tasks I would with a small to medium size pocket-knife, because you usually have about that much blade.

It's just another knife to have with you. :)
Carry it around the neck, shove it in a pocket, or stick one in a pack...you can never have too many knives! ;)

My neckers usually are pocket carried. They are so damn handy! Convenience of a folder, sturdiness of a fixed blade

I look at it like this, it's another tool that will serve a specific task. I use my neck knife when I go fishing, it does come in handy. When I explain this to my family, they just shake their head and say nothing. It's just a knife thing. How many screwdrivers does one really need? But most find that they have more than they'll ever need. I like having the option to chose from, that's all.

I tried to carry a few neckers a few times (Becker Necker, CRKT Folts Minimalist) and couldn't get used to it knocking around on my chest. Deployment was easy, but putting the thing back in the sheath took some patience and two hands.

But they are damn cool, and not that pricey if you go with production models. So one possible reason is: "I want to try something new."

Justify it the same way she justifies a necklace. A necker is man version of a necklace

You don't need one. I don't get the justification part. My wife and I spend our respective money on whatever we want. She does not need to ask permission, nor do I. I have a couple neck knives (small fixed blades). I usually carry it in my pocket, I don't like anything to hang around my neck.

cuz they're cool...

but really though, I have a CRKT folts minimalist that i just throw around my neck and i forget that I even have it sometimes because its so light, but its always there when i need it.

More Neck knives?
Really???!

I like neck knives for its compactness and size.
Especially if they are designed well enough
For actual applications.
It has way past the stage where I buy purely for need.
So I won't deny that I go for looks and styling now.
And one last thing,
Where possible try and convert these neckers for belt wear instead
It will greatly resolve impending issues regarding neck wear and tear...

I work in an office and usually carry a ZT folder and a small fixed blade in the back pocket. Lately though, Ive been carrying a BK16 horizontally on the belt or in my front right pocket. There's tons of options in every price range.

One reason that I like neckers is that I can drop one under my shirt or jacket and it's out of site. I don't have the time or interest in explaining to\pacifying strangers that get apprehensive about my carrying.

Why do you need one? Because, it sounds like you don't already have one.
I have a few; but rarely, if ever, wear them around my neck. Usually, they are in a pocket or on/in a pack.

The magic wears off quickly and it gets annoying pretty fast. I'd just stick with folders honestly

I've never actually carried a necker as... A neck knife...

Seems it would get in the way whenever you bent down, plus it would bounce around anytime you were moving at more than walking pace. It might be handy for around camp, out in the kitchen or something, but beyond that it would seem annoying to me. I guess I think about them kind of like I do a dress/neck tie. They're not too bad until you start trying to be more active, then they get in the way.

That said, they seem excellent in any form of pocket carry, out scout/ crossdraw carry. Like that they function kind of like a folder.

That's an easy one.
I use them while running.
I mean I want to be fit and safe.
You may find it a little tricky to find the right one.
You may have to test different types.
all the best.
