Are you kidding? Do a search for threads about Dork-Ops knives!! There are enough of them, and they will answer your question! Have you not seen their ridiculous advertisements? It gives knife knuts a bad name!! Not to mention that they are a blatant rip off of Extrema Ratio's designs!!

1. Incredibly foolish ad copy.

2. Their first appearance at Blade was marked by overwhelming hubris and 0 (ZERO) actual knives. They had more than one explanation for why they had no knives to show. Which story was a lie?

3. The first knives anybody got still had "Extrema Ratio" markings on them.

4. The first pictures anybody saw of them showed blatant Extrema Ratio design ripoffs.

5. The first knife somebody reviewed had terrible QC and lockup problems.

Like TKC said, do a search.

I'm not trying to be ignorant but i do not know much about extreme ratio as well. I will take a look at dork ops threads though:D .

aj, it's a long, complicated story. Torz summed up all most of us need to know, but it has a history, also.

Extrema Ratio had a forum here, and generated a lot of excitement over their very heavy-duty knives. The man running the US distribution ran the forum, and made a lot of friends with his enthusiasm and great customer service.

Then he broke up with Extrema Ratio to go into business for himself. It turned out as Torz explained, a lot of overlap with his former position, and very slippery presentation of his new enterprise. A couple of years before he actually had product to sell. Obvious rip-offs of ER.

If you search for "Dork Ops" you should get more information than you'll end up wanting to read. :)

Many of the European military carry and use Extreme Ratio knives. They are not talked about as much here but they are high quality extreme use knives that are anything but fragile. My Fulcrum II is made in Italy and while quite impractical for somethings you use a folder for one has to marvel at the tank of a product that it really is. The blade is nearly as thick on this folder as the blade on the ScrapYard Knives DogFather which is a 10" heavy duty chopping fixed blade. You won't be using it to whittle with but if you needed a good defensive or survival tool in a harsh environment it would be a good heavy duty choice to look at.

DarkOps is not original. If you are interested in anything of theirs support the real deal and get you a Extreme Ratio knife.

Let me just jump in here and say that I am glad that aj1985 can feel free to ask questions about dork ops. I remember when I was a knife noobie and many kind people explained to me that the folding pistol knife was not the best way to spend ones money!!:D

Welcome to the forums aj...

And when you've been welcome by The Devil's Trailboss -- you have REALLY been welcomed.

Ask any question you want. Don't worry about hitting a sore spot. We'll get over it!

[Meanwhile, hundreds of others who WANTED to ask that question will be reading every word...]

There must be some people happy with dark ops right or are those buyers new to knife collecting, and have made a few errors in their judgment.

Considering that Frost sells so well, I don't base my assessment of knife quality by their success in marketing. :D

Gichin Funakoshi was the man to introduce Karate first to the rest of Japan and then the rest of the world. He related a story about a man who came to his dojo claiming to be able to teach him the ancient art of ripping a mans flesh off his arms. After Mr. Funakoshi asked him to demonsrate the technique by ripping his flesh off the man was unable to even give him an indian burn and left in shame.
The disgraced man then went on to writting ad copy for DO.
Seriously there is nothing new about ridiculous claims or design theft. DO is just the new "red headed step child".

Read a few of their product write-ups. I'm sure you'll also find it worthy of ridicule.

Looks like they're doing Gil Hibben designs now:

The back taper of the broadening penetrator tip is beveled as not to catch on bone or clothing when withdrawn from the wound.
That's literally "ridiculous," as in "worthy of ridicule."

The black Titanium CarboNitride (TiCN) vacuum deposited finish is designed to shed the micro-fine airborne sand of Middle-Eastern deserts.

I know i am a bit slow at times. Does the above statement in the simplest terms means that you can cut sand or am i just mistaken.

I had one of there folders last year and it wasnt no better than the 30 dollar s@w extreme ops bullseye! Wouldnt hold a edge and hard to sharpen and alot of slob in the blade. What a mistake buying this garbage when its no better than a s@w knife and thats low enough.Traded it for a benchmade gravititor and never looked back at that mistake:barf:

What kind of testing do you suppose they do in order to prove this :D.
Dead pig has an encounter with a darkops knife

I think it is more than just ridiculus. I think it is offensive and potentially a liability to anybody interested in knives. Ads like Dork Op's are the fuel that drives the ever more restrictive carrying laws of knives. Even worse, some dumbass wannabe gang-member might buy one and actually use it in the manner alluded to in their ads, which will in turn will make the public respond with:"See all knives are weapons and should be banned".

Quite frankly, I think they should be taken to court over their ads alone :barf: . Just my $0.02.
