Why do some people dislike aluminium handles?

lol its cool, some people just don't like metal handles, which is perfectly feasible. It just gives me a reassuring feeling holding my CRK Shadow. Then again it is a hollow handle...sooooooo... it might be soul-less?

I realize it's not exactly the same, but I really love the feel of Global kitchen knives; they have metal handles with dimples in them. They're easy to grip and feel good in the hand, IMOHO.

Both of mine in my current EDC rotation have aluminium handles----so I guess I favor them. BM 520 + Vic Farmer---a good working pair

There's nothing wrong with aluminum handles....check out some of the Microtech and Pro-Tech autos.
And plenty of nice Benchmade knives have aluminum too.
Spyderco and Kershaw have used aluminum for years.
All are certainly good quality knives.

The only negative that I can see is that they do scratch, ding, and dent more easily than some other materials.

1) slippery
2) coatings wear off easily
3) dents & scratches
4) conductivity

So, without trying to be rude, what are the benefits of aluminum handles?

keep your tool clean as they said in boot camp!:D :p

Any metal is not my favorite handle material, but in some knives it is perfectly fine.
One of my EDCs is Spyderco R2, great knife. Due to laser cuts it provide a good grip, I do not use knife a lot outside during the winter, so it is not getting cold and I do not remember it's to be too warm at summer time.
I used to carry Spyderco Adventura with SS handle and I love ATR (both of them have laser cuts).

Actually, when it comes to being "slippery", that is really due to handle design and not handle material.
A properly designed handle will not be slippery in the grip regardless of the material.

Many aluminum handles are not slippery at all (just to name a few)....

Kershaw Leek, Kershaw Boa, CRKT Carson M16, CRKT Carson M21, Gerber Harsey Air Ranger, Spyderco Ayoob, Spyderco Lum Chinese, Benchmade Crawford Leopard, Benchmade 940 Osborne, etc....

I really like my CRKT M16-14, nothing wrong this knife in particular, but I can see how some knives in aluminum might be slippery. As for the conductivity, it stays in my pocket at all times unless needed. So it is pretty much whatever temperature I am.
