Why do some Spyderco have a number code and letter on the the blade? (120V)

Spyderco has a program called the "Collectors Club" each member of that club is assigned a three digit number between 001 and 200. A member can elect to take only the "base" version of each new model, or they can elect to take "all variants". Those who take all variants receive the "base" version of each model with just their number, plus each of the variants of that model with the same number and a V suffix.

These photos might make what I'm trying to explain easier to follow. The black SE version was desingnated by Spyderco as the "base" version of the Tasman Salt, so all the others carry the "V" suffix.

Same with the Atlantic Salt...

Thank you for great information Deacon.
I have C48GP with the number "083V" and C48GPS with number "083".
Half-serrtaed is base model of Wegner, isn't it?

I think plain edge should be the base model, IMHO.:)

I see. Thanks for that info. I have wondered what it was thought that I should have known so I didn't want to ask.

I wonder who didn't want their plain edge black handled Pacific Salt then!

Who are you number 102?
:D

I don't think 102 is taken, because I had an Adventura with #102 on it.

Must be a vacant slot:cool:

Hey Paul,
I am glad you did not take the Black S30V Military. :D
I have one with 043V code right on the desk. I got it from newgraham. Did not ordered the numbered one, but got it. Great knife (in every way).
