Why do the Topics seem so BORING?

Has anyone else noticed this? I don't remember a time when I've had such a hard time finding a Topic to get involved in. Seems like a week ago that threads were getting locked, con men were being exposed, flames were flying and life just seemed to be more fun.
Maybe this is the after effect of all that fun. There's a let down, too much PC, people affraid to speak their minds for fear of being slapped down.
Well, I'm hear to say I miss it. What about the rest of you? I mean how many times can we answer what's the best way to sharpen a knife? Why do we collect knives? Why doesn't everyone like my stupid knives?
I tell you, if things don't change around here soon, I may just have to go back to work.
I'll start it off, "What's the most boring Topic on this Forum right now?"

Most boring thread is any one that hermanknives posts in because they all get locked.

Having little order in my perfect life
I think others too benefit from strife
so I poke and I prod
their values I trod
So much for brotherhood of the knife.

Phil, I think instead of pointing out the most boring thread, I think I will point out the 'types' of posts that are the most lame.

First, there are the ones that ask..'Whats the best tactical folder?' Yeah...like that hasnt been done a thousand times.

Or, how about the threads with over 100 replies that take forever to load, you check the forum and notice that another post has been added to it. You wait forever to load the thread only to see that some dork has simply posted...'yep, I agree'...They oughta be choked.

Of course, there are the REALLY PC type thin skinned weanies. You know the type, they like to talk about the big, bad tactical knives they carry to fend off the imaginary hit squad thats out to get them. They love to talk knife fighting, and street tactics and what knife will lop an arm off. But, these are the same types that are the first to whine when a post seems the least bit negative, and hurts thier poor little feelings. Makes ya wonder how they would really handle a mugging. When the bad guy says something remotely derogatory, will they whip out the badass tactical and drop into a fighting stance that would make Jackie Chan proud? Or, would they instead do what they do here, and let thier feelings be crushed.

Of course, Im sure we all miss the good ole days of....'Im a senior member!!!!'

And there is always that one particular person who occasionly posts something like....'I know a secret that will turn the knife industry upside down...but im not gonna tell
smile.gif
' That gets old pretty quick. Makes ya wonder if that person really knows all that stuff, or what.

Well, I could go on and on...but you get the idea

Lets not forget the lamest of the lame...apology threads...yuk!! See here for reference. http://www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum32/HTML/001548.html

Heres to hoping for some better threads from now on

back to your guestion......

its a toss up between..."general outdoor knife" and "i need a new tactical knife"

There is nothing wrong with a person that might be new to knives or the forum asking a question simply because he hasn't seen it a hundred times and doesn't know than answer.
It's an entirely different story when a person that knows the answer starts lame threads just for the sake of posting something. Of course posting something controversial or taking an unpopular stand on an issue makes the whiners come out of the woodwork like cockroaches when the lights go out. But that's just the nature of the net.

speaking of boring, did you go to the Empire meeting last wednesday,Phil? I hear they can be good sometimes and other times real snoozers. I should be there next month.
BTW, if you want a good thread we could discuss how the Bronx is so much classier than Brooklyn

Many questions were answered already (at least for me) and I guess that for many others as well. And with that many posts and the search working now we can find almost any information we need. So it is quite difficult to come up with something new and even interesting.

I now visit not only this forum, but more often also Shop Talk or others I was not interested in before. And finally I have time to visit other forums (outside BF)as well

That does it! I don't like the direction this thread is going. And since I'm a moderator I'm locking this one down!

Oops, wait a minute, I've never locked down a thread before and have no idea how to. Oh well, I guess this one stays open.

And if anyone wants to argue this point with me it will probably make this boring thread more interesting.

"What's the most boring Topic on this Forum right now?"

This one.

There are interesting discussions going on all over this website ... just not in this forum. That's not unusual; it's the normal state of affairs. The general forum is the one the newbies go to first and that's where they post their newbie questions. By the time they have anything interesting to say they've found the appropriate forum to post it in (some people never catch on to the idea of different forums for different subjects ... some people don't have enough brains to write an interesting post, either)....

PhilL - you think this is boring...

Go check the knife-throwing forum...

The stuff they post there is beyond belief...

It seems to come in two week cycles. Something to do with the Moon, I think.
