Take a perfect design, Dyad, and come out with a larger one only to cheapen it up by not using liners. I now know why I'd discontinue it.

I imagine that their answer would probably be that it was done to lighten the knife. Micarta is very stiff and will most likely do a pretty good job without liners, but folders without liners always feel cheaper to me.

I prefer to have double liners in a liner lock, unless the scales are aluminum or titanium. I suppose this is one reason why I like my BM910 Stryker so much.
