Why do walmart 110's come with nylon sheaths?

I agree I live in a small town about thirty miles away from Walmart and we are still feeling the effects. A lot of the mom and pop stores even here are gone now. And I agree with razorblades about cabelas. IMHO I think people need to realize that $ isn't everything.

I guess it depends on the store. The only knives I ever see in clam packs at my local store are displayed before the holidays and are usually Remington or some other off brand. The real knives including all the Bucks are pictured on a board and are kept under the counter in boxes. Now, at the local K-Mart, all the knives are in clam packs but they don't have a sporting goods counter with a sales person to help you like Walmart does.
You're right Dave,it all depends on the store. The kmart I go to in town doesn't carry any pocket knives at all and I went to a wally store in Calif. that stocked no Buck knives. The wally I go to in El Paso stocks it's Bucks under the counter and they come in boxes.I have many brands of folding knives but for what the 110 cost I'd say it's the very best knife value bar none.

Glad to have you back Tom.

It's my understanding that walmart strong-arms their suppliers to manufacture in china or they won't do business with them. I was amazed that the 110 sold in walmart is still made in USA. That's part of the 1% of goods still made in USA that they sell.
I believe you may be correct. Have you seen the size of the ship they sail ? (that has a special coating on the underside that saves xxx, xxx, gallons of gas a year)
I'm always a firm believer in "Don't feed the Dragon" and support local.
I appreciate that Buck chooses to keep most of it's manufacturing in the USA. I have never bought a Buck China knife, although I hear the quality is good, the money is in the wrong place IMHO.
I visit walter appoximately 3 times a year as I live in a small population town and sometimes I must go there to save a few bucks. But otherwise Shop Local.
