Why do we call the BK9 "The King"?

Because it's freakin' AWESOME that's why!
I decided to process some wood today. I was inspired by another thread actually.

So, I've got some logs out back that have been there for at least 16 months. I'm not even sure what they are at first. I got them from a lady that lives near our church. She had a tree cut down and they put it out for the city truck to pick up. I asked &she said sure take what you want. So I did.

When I started I thought I was going to compare an ESEE 6, a Gingrich RD-6, a BK-5 and a BK-9. I quickly realized that none of the other knives were up to the task so all of the heavy work fell to The King.

^^^ That's about as far as any of the others got.

What have I done?

No damage to the blade whatsoever!!!

I'm not normally the guy who wants to push his knives to the limit. I don't do "destruction" tests per se. But I'm also kinda hard headed and tend to keep at it once I get started. So once I got started I just had to finish.

Let me tell you, I thought the 9 was done when I saw the blade bend like that. But it just kept on going & going &.... You get the picture.

Well any knife that can take a seasoned cedar log apart and still shave arm hair deserves to be called The King!
