Why Do We Collect Knives?

I was a full blooded gun nut before I became a knife enthusiats. I'm just a refugee gun nut. (the rules started to become a little too oppressive to justify sinking more money into guns

Matt, Did I really say all of that? Guess that falls under Waxes Simple(minded)

Hey, Tom, I've got to take issue with your statement too. Not all girls collect dolls... my wife, for example, seems to collect shoes.

Back on topic... guns have always interested me, and I was a gun nut before I was a knife knut, but I have a more utilitarian view toward guns. I already have guns for hunting and home/personal defense, so I probably won't buy another for a while.

Having said that, I'm now starting to feel that old itch to buy a gun that I have absolutely no need for. Thanks a lot.

cos they're cool as hell! *l*

its a very wearable and useful toy, plus the security that make me feel when i carry them (ehem... all day)

I started collecting knives because of my fasincation with tools. I have always looked for things that were compact in design, but practicle in function. I still have to have the latest gadget, but the knives I have are all 100% functional. I have them because I thought that they could have more uses than the one that I already have. I do have some knives that I purchased because they look awesome, or unique. I don't collect "fantasy" knives, and every thing I have may not be legal to cary, but it is a tool. Why don't I collect guns? Because of the previously stated price factor, as well as the fact that I don't need a gun every day. A gun is not a tool. It is a weapon that is designed to be used in the protection or destruction of life or property. I only need one, or possibly two so why would I want more than one. This is just my personal opinion, but you asked for it. Everything I have, I can justify with practical reasoning. I don't collect guns, because I only have two hands. I have several knives that can be used for several tasks, and I wear different ones in different situations, and surrounding. I don't see how I can justify having over three hand guns, and maybe three long-guns. I am not against guns, and I think that there should be more of them in the hands of citizens, but they just aren't my thing.

A knife is the only tool I know of that I can have custom crafted by an artist to my exact taste and then carry and use daily.
