Why do we not see more offerings in M4

Is it because its tough to keep the lock area and under the scales free from rusting?
its seems like this is a super non-stainless steel. The bento box version is hard to find(looking for one) and the gayle is not my style. Will we ever see a good production version maybe in the PM2 or even manix again

I have a BM 810 Contego in M4, no problems with rust at all, but I do keep a little oil on it. It lives in my pocket but hasn't seen too much moisture, we'll see how it fares in the warmer months with getting sweaty or rained on.

Maybe it's because M4 is difficult/expensive to work with or heat treat?

Have wanted a GB Air for a while, but with the beach being a 5-minute walk away felt like it'd rust on me. Was going to buy one anyway and force a patina on it, but finally gave up and bought a print Jester instead.

My GB developed a lot of surface rust in my pocket on a hot summer afternoon. It's not my pick for humid weather, but it's fantastic during the non-humid time of year.

I'd be down for another sprint of the military in M4. Never tried it but I would like to. ;)

I REALLY like M4. I've been petitioning for an M4 Para 2 for what seems like forever. I hate that I missed the Millie sprint.

This x 10000! For crying out loud, can't one of the big dealers make this happen?! And preferably in an unlimited run so we more of us can enjoy it?

I think it deserves to be used more. People are willing to pay premium prices because it really is one of the best steels out there. I appreciate the experimentation with different steels and all the sprints but I'd love to see another new knife or a variant of a pre-existing model where M4 is standard.

It is odd, given that Spyderco have a great blade coating, one of the best. Seems a waste to use it on S30V, when it could be used on M4! A Military in M4 with DLC would be a fearsome beast indeed.

I've said it before, but I would love to have another chance to buy a military in m4 since I missed the last one! A plain g10 model would be fine with me.

I appreciate that, but in my experience DLC definitely helps prevent rust in an M4 blade.

I have a feeling that it might help a bit. My impression was that that statement from spyderco/taz was more in the way of a disclaimer than anything else. That's only my interpretation (which has a dubious historical track record at best!) :D

Maybe they are coming up with some new coating and you could convince them to give you a prototype to test out seeing as you are on the ocean everyday. Makes sense to me:D

Admittedly, I only have a sample of ONE to work from, which is the Ritter Grip M4 which has a very nice DLC finish.

I would love to give M4 a try myself. I opted for the M390 Contego with the intention of picking up something M4 from spyderco since I prefer uncoated blades. The Gayle Bradley is supposed to be a sweet knife but I'd spend whatever it took if I could get a PM2 in M4 instead.

I have beaten the snot out of my Gayle Bradley and am very impressed with M4!

The Military in M4 is incredible! I'd buy a few backups if they ever did another run!
