Why Do You Buy Knives?

Pkdmslf said it all with the possible exclusion of the word "fetish".

Fetish defined as "2. any object, idea, etc., eliciting unquestioning reverence, respect, or devotion:".

I can't explain the why, nor the "what is it about knives..." questions. I'm just fascinated by blades and their utility.

The knife is one of the oldest and most basic tools for mankinds survival. Only superseded by throwing/beating rocks and sticks.

Well, BladeForums has become for me an excellent source of info on one of my life's infatuations, a great place to meet people with that same infatuation, a good educational experience, a way for me to evaluate my high speed internet connectivity, a place to spend time when I don't like the movie that my family has chosen, a good way to exercise my written skills, an excellent source of entertainment, and I'd miss out on all of this . . . if I didn't buy knives. :)
