So many reasons:
- Traditionals require two hand opening. It's a slow, methodical routine to cut something. Modern tactical folders make me think of a "deploy and slash everything" attitude. Why not open slowly and enjoy the task at hand?
- Beautiful covers and materials. Titanium, steel and aluminum grey get boring fast. Everything is grey frame on black G-10 on a blacked blade. Or a grey, stonewashed blade with full grey titanium. There's no color. Sure, those can be anodized, but why play with a chemistry experiment when nature is anodizing stuff for me?
- History.
- Social friendly.
- Traditionals just have great, thin slicers. Nothing pisses me off than my over-sized Boker tank that can't do its job. If a blade isn't cutting, then you're carrying a hammer, not a knife.
- Traditionals age like wine. A modern folder loses value when the titanium wears and blade scratches. It loses it's shine, like a new girlfriend you got tired of. A pocket-worn stag and unique patina just makes you appreciate the adventure.
