Don't forget the loose parts on all those guns that caused them to clink and clank every time they are pointed at anyone.

One of the knives I carry is for no other purpose than to sit alongside my phone in my cargo pocket so that the phone doesn't rotate horizontally. When it is vertical my leg has better range of motion.
A mean look can make those Hollywood guns clink and clank.

It makes sense carrying two different blade lengths on ya depending on the situation. Short is nice for opening boxes, long for slicing shortcake. Yum.

Mine and a loaner.
Plain and serrated.
Fixed and folder.
Food and everything else.
Slicing/dicing and beater tasks.

So many reasons to carry more than one; not even counting SAKs and multi-tools.

So I'm blowing through the Stargate franchise again and I came upon this variant on the "two is one and one is none" idea.

Stargate Atlantis
Season 2 Episode 11 The Hive

(in a prison cell)
Sheppard: Last time we were on one of these ships, McKay was able to open the door by cutting right into the wall.
Ford: You mean like with a knife?
Sheppard: You have a knife?
Ford: One for them to find, one to keep. Everybody knows that.

In addition to my "main" blade, which may be a modern or traditional folder, I always have an Alox SAK. The main knife is for general cutting, while the SAK is the screwdriver/crow bar/wire stripper/bottle opener/can opener/drill/.......

I've carried a knife in my right coin pocket and left pocket several times, but the "why" was just for fun, because I love knives. :)

I also carry a SAK a lot, but I love SAK blades and never felt like they needed to be a compliment to something else. They excel at what blades are supposed to excel at - cutting things. I could carry this every day and feel little need to carry anything else.

The only time I EDC two knives on my person, is when I have both the little Victorinox Classic SD Alox on my keychain, and a full-size folder in my pocket. The Vic is there mainly for the scissors and screwdriver, and I seldom use the blade.

When I venture "outdoors" camping, canoeing or hiking, I routinely carry at least two blades, usually a full-size folder and a 4-5 inch fixed blade.

SAK Tinker in left front pocket, med (3"=/-) folder clipped inside right front and usually either:

larger folder back pocket or
multitool in belt sheath or
small fixed blade ...

dependent upon day's plans

I carry a small fixed blade CRK edc usually and a victorinox.
Different purposes plus if someone needs a knife I don't worry about the victorinox.
