Why do you carry your specific edc knife?

Buck Knives was founded in 1947. Decades after Harleys and airplanes... trustier than either, imo..
They officially opened the business in 1945, but the family, Hoyt, started making and heat treating knives in 1902, from what I understand. The Wright Brothers made their first flight, and Harley Davidson started in 1903. The point is, they've been around a while, and pretty much invented the lockback folding knife which remained the pinnacle of knife technology until Spyderco gave it a pocket clip and one handed opening ability in the late 80's, early 90's. It's a company and a product that I trust and enjoy carrying and using.

My carry changes from day to day depending upon my needs. I have found when I am fishing a small inexpensive fixed blade works best on the boat as it is easy to use one handed and get in and out of the sheath while seated. While I have access to tools most of the time, I still find myself carrying a multitool alot, especially if I am away from home, etc. If I am working in the yard or on the vehicles then I want something with a pocket clip I can access quickly without having to dig in my pockets with dirty greasy hands. There are other scenarios for consideration, hunting, hiking, camping, Church, events or venues that have security, etc.
Sometimes it is just a mood, sometimes I want a carbon steel old school traditional, sometimes I feel like carrying a Benchmade, CRK, or other modern knife. In short, it is a combination of my mood and needs for whatever I am doing.

I didn’t mention this in my original post but my favorite EDC SAKs are…

#1) Victorinox Swisschamp (if I could only choose one).
#2) Victorinox Explorer Plus (it has my favorite SAK tools - scissors, inline Phillips, magnifying glass and plus scales).
#3) Victorinox Craftsman (I’ve pretty much retired this one).

I’ve been EDCing one of these three since 2007. I like a lot of different knives, but these are the ones that get used and one of them gets carried daily.

Emerson OBS. No bearings, no springs, next to zero maintenance. I’ve tried just about every type of folder I could get my hands on the past 40 years.. I kind of came to the realization that the same brand I carried in the 90’s still works and sold everything else. I think a folder should be able to perform any utility task and double as a defensive tool - Emersons are perfect for my needs.

My EDC is a Victorinox Executive, which is in perpetual use throughout the day opening mail (main blade), opening packages (main blade and "orange peeler"), trimming small stuff (scissors), nail maintenance (nail file), and, of course, the two toothpicks (I tossed the tweezers). I've been carrying one like it since 1967, although I do appreciate the more recent models. Oh, I forgot to mention the small blade (#10 surgical scalpel), the slotted screwdriver at the end of the orange peeler, and (most people don't know) the long phillips screwdriver at the end of the file. When it's not doing the aforementioned tasks, it's also my constant fidget object, — so, I've left instructions to be buried with it (in my left hand).

I just put my Recon1 tanto in my pocket and my Izula2 in my backpack or jacket and call it a day.

Why Recon1?
It cuts well, has really comfortable handle and full grip, holds an edge decently long, doesn't rust (coated S35VN), it's sturdy and also big enough to even be used on food when I need that.

Why Izula2?
Good handle, and thick little slab of 1095. It's comfortable in the hand, doesn't hold an edge too well but it's easy to get sharp, but it's tough. That's the knife I use when I want to do something really stupid. And I know if I ever did ruin it - ESEE would send me a new one.

I mostly carry LG because I love the knives and the man behind them, and I like to finger flick them thumbstuds! (Talos in my pocket as we speak)

Chaves. A variety of sizes, variety of weights, good steel and, as my Dad used to say: “built like a brick ****house”.

I carry a stretch 2 in k390 because it's foolproof, thin, and never dulls. Also always stays closed when not in use.

I reside in SE Asia 10 months out of the year . When I am in Bali it is a Spyderco Salt . But in the US I carry a small 21 Sebenza or a Benchmade Auto 940.

The reason to carry the Salt is everything decomposes FAST in the year round hot tropical weather and the humidity can destroy any blade steel by just sitting in air-conditioned room. Except for the H1 salt.
