Why do you have a lanyard on your knife?

Short braided fobs are great for digging a folder out of your pocket. I did use a wrist lanyard on a Sebenza around the boat but got rid of it as it was in the way
when grabbing it out of my pocket. A wrist lanyard on a clipped knife is not an option.

I tie Lanyards(FOB's) to my knives because it makes a quick job of pulling it out of my pocket.
Yes, that's what the clip is for, but the Lanyard gives you a more solid grip when pulling the knife out.
Also, I like the way they look.
I do indeed use Skull Beads(this is strictly for looks) on all of my knives that I carry/use.
It's nice to have different beads for a different look.
And different cord colors.
They're useful, and pretty lol.

Because I lost a Becker necker composite blade 3 weeks ago in long grass! If I would have had a lanyard it would still be with me.

I remember a story of a lanyardless Sebenza going to the bottom of a lake.

I remember the knife my brother took to the Boundary Waters. He put a bright orange piece of tape on the handle to keep from losing the knife. Sure did look pretty down there, sparking orange from the bottom of a crystal-clear lake. :D

an example when i have chalk on my hnds from weight lifting. i dont have to touch my pocket to get the knife out. just grab the lanyard

Lanyards are really not that functional to the everyday person, perhaps the ninja will find a decent enough reason to attach one to his knife. The only time I have ever really used one or needed one was when I was in the Navy or on the pier fishing. And even then who the hell is gonna be doing that hardcore of stuff need to hang the tool to the wrist. Your absolutely right about them getting in the way, thats what the pocket clip was designed for. And the excuse "it allows me to put it in my pocket and no one knows that i have a knife" thats straight up BS. Having a funky looking piece of 550 cord or whatever is being used hanging out of the pocket is the least bit discrete and any half way intelligent soul will see it. And god forbid you ever are on the receiving end of a beat down. Having cordage poking put of the pants presents a huge problem. Now Im no knife fighting expert but i would take a gamble and say that if you ever had to defend yourself with your tool, having that "extra grip" or what have you may be your downfall. I would like to apologize to anyone if I may have offended you, that was not the intent. But rather share my experience with you. thank you and have a pleasant day.

Some guys like them and other guys don’t. Some use them on certain knives and don’t use them on others. There are practical reasons for using them and not so practical reasons.

Only one functional lanyard on a single knife for me. My GEC 43 is about as big a pocket knife as I'll carry. The lanyard and bead keep it vertically situated in my pocket.
