Why do you like knives?

While this question really deserves a full David Letterman "Top Ten" list, I'll just skip straight to reason #1:
"Got no fingernails"

Well because the other options consist of
a. Borrowing a knife (rather do option b.)
b. Chewwing through objects with teeth.

Dexter Ewing's article entitled So You've Decided to Collect Knives, sums it up for me.

Cant explain it any better than that. I just like 'em, the design, general looks, everything about the way they look and function.

not really sure...maybe it's my caveman ancestry......something instinctual about it.....but I love the simple beauty of the blade...

Do I have to answer this Q?

I hate it, because i don't know the answer.
All that I can remember is: since my memory serves me i love knives.

Why do I like knives? HoooBoy, this is gonna be a little bit on the cliche/corny side, but......"Being Prepared." With a knife and/or multi-tool,most any emergency/problem that pops up can be, to some extent, handled.A good sharp blade makes getting into a sealed package alot easier, and the one hand openers are a great way to burn nervous energy...flick....flick....flick.

'cuz they cut things?

Stryver, who tried sharpening his fingernails for a while, but they just won't hold an edge, and the splinters were a bear.

The connection to man rising himself above the animals certainly resounds within my being while holding a blade, the empowerment of being a tool user and creating something that will outlive myself fills me with pride. And nowhere can you find such a variety in design, material and execution, as you will with knives. From a bejeweled ceremonial dagger to a plain but solid working knife, all have a beauty that comes from the work that went into creating them and the tradition behind it.
