It is feel good! This is first what you sence when you take onein you hand.
Other words it is very comfortable in use due to several features.
1. Weight balance.
Center of graviti in the middle of the handle, plus handle is much heavier then blade. In you palm it is right on the same place where palm center of gravity is, so in result it feels like it is part of you palm. It is not usefull for chopper, but good for knife which you manipulate a lot.
2. Curved yoke like handle.
With center of graviti in the middle, it makes knife not to duck from you palm even you do not hold it much. It just stay "itself" in relaxed palm which allows you to rest time to time not spending any muscular power to not to drop it. It is important if you are doing a lot of cutting in some uncomfortable position for long time.
3. Smoothe handle.
Handle is pretty smooth and again if you are wittling for half hour you will appretiate it more then suregrip tactical handle surface. But it is not less grippy because it is kind of stick to palm skin.
4. Heavyness.
Due to the solid brass bolsters it is heavy. And when you hold it you sence it - you are armed now. This is good weigh which may be used again in work.
5. Blade geometry.
Sharp tip is very useful.
Overall for 42 years from 1964 when it was introduced it is still very popular. I guess it is one of this - engineering optimal construction, timeless, proven by generations etc...
I hope Buck will make some limited run and put polished G10 of CF on the sides with stainless bolsters and ZDP-189 steel. It will be super knife... Sweet dreams...
Thanks, Vassili.
