I have a sebenza that i love. No to be weird or anything, but its kinda like a friend i can take every where. now i have toys that are alot more expensive than my sebenza but for some reason they just dont have the same feeling as my sebenza. Motorcycles and cars come and go and i never think twice, but heaven forbid i missplace my sebenza and id :barf: . Anyone else care about their sebenza, im sure we would all love to hear about it.

It seems like a friend to me to. It helps you, and can protect you. You can carry it with you,and you can sleep with it,haha. The trouble is, I want to many friends!:)

My Sebenza is the tool I know I can rely on, and the beautiful piece of engineering that always reminds me how form and function should go together. It puts work and art in balance.

I thought that The Professor put it well in a post the other day -

I trust my Seb more than most people. It has never folded under pressure, never left a job half-done, and never ever laughed out loud at my choice in footwear.

A Friend indeed!

For all the reasons mentioned above and one important one to me. I think it's so cool to be able to get a left hand dedicated framelock without much hassle!

Hmmm........,well,one thing is certainly true!
The Sebenza "grows" on you.......,like a true pal!
First of all,let me be honest...........,my Sebenza is "special" for financial reasons.
I live in the Netherlands where the price of imported knives is in no comparison to the prices in the "land of production".
...for example......,the costs here of a plain large Sebenza is around $700,- and since I got my Sebbie of a very nice forumite for a very good price,it's very special to me!(thanks Inkster!!!)
Another reason why my Sebbie is special to me is:I just won a raffle on another "Devlish" forum and the winner was allowed to send in his own titanium-handled knife to Mr Matt Cucchiara for a "modification job"!!!!
Now that is very cool, but I could not have won the raffle without another very cool forumite who let me have his spot totally free of charge!!!(because I was too late to join!)(thanks again howiesatwork!!!)

So when my Sebbie returns,I will have a true "one of a kind" unique Sebenza!!!!
Even though I have an order in for Mr Scott Cook for a Lochsa......,this Sebbie will never part with me!!!

O.....,and why I love the Sebenza???
One word...........:"perfection".:D

Raoul...

I have two sebenzas, large and small regular, for me its only tools. Good tools, I trust it, but always it only good tool. Smal sebenza is my EDC knife, large I take when I go fishing, when I repair something. I like it, and I dont change it, but my friend are only human :)

You know, I have to agree with Bagnet. I like my Sebenza more than any hammer I've ever owned, but they're both tools. I would miss my EDC Sebenza a great deal, but I could get another. Friendship is reserved for humans.

Maybe humans aren't as "reliable" as knives - I prefer to think that they're not as predictable, and that's an important distinction. Other people can thrill you and aggravate you and astound you - and you them. You interact with people - and you use a knife. You use it the right way, and it feels like an extension of you.

Maybe that's an issue here. You absolutely control your knife (or should!). You can never control other people, and shouldn't even try. You don't have to charm a knife, or reason with it, or argue or debate. You own your knife. Can you ever own a friend?

OK - getting too close to pop pyschology here. If I go any further I'll be talking about people loving poodles - and I don't want to go there...

It is my friend. I LOVE my Sebbie for all the reasons everyone else mentioned. What can I say, Sebbie's rule?!

I take care of her, she takes care of me. I keep her sharp, she helps me with her edge. It's just like between good old friends...

Like always, few words, deep sense... :) Is any knife which mean more or the same for you?

what is this devlish forum you speak of? ;)

Hey guys I just got my first Sebenza this week. A left handed small.
I'm already beginning to understand why you can get attatched to them.
I have Chris Reeves knives both fixed and folding at shows many times and finally decided it was time to own one.
To me the small Sebbie seems to be a perfect pocketknife.
Its light and comfortable but its still a serious knife.
There is also some intangible quality I can't explain. I've always been a sucker for craftsmanship no matter what the product is.
My new knife ranks high on my personal favorites list along with my Rolex and Tony Llamas.

I just received my Large Classic with the Blue Dog Paw Tracks a couple of days ago and the quality really impresses me. It is also the little details of the knife, like the smooth blade back and the little extra bump on the pocket clip that locks onto the pocket seam of jeans, that make this such a great knife. Also the fact that you can take it apart and clean and lube the knife yourself is an added bonus.

Sebenzas are not inexpensive knives by any stretch of the imagination, but then getting quality in anything you buy isn't cheap.

I have owned 3-4 sebenzas and I think I am done with them. They are well made and everything but for the price, I just don't think they are worth it. They never really grew on me for several reasons. I respect them for what they are but I never got that special feeling about them like others seem to have.

I have also tried the HI Kukri thing and I don't get it either so maybe it is just me. I would rather have a Spyderco Para-Military for $100 than a Sebenza for $300-400. I would also rather have a $15.00 Otario machete than a $100 HI Kukri. In a way I feel like I am missing out on something but in another way, it is truely nice to be happy with a less expensive alternative.

To each his/her own!! I LOVE my Sebbie, and missed it terribly when I didn't have one. Now that I have one again, I am NOT selling or trading it!! For me, once a Sebbie gets in yer blood, you just CAN'T be without one!

I hear ya! I have sold or traded three Sebenza's but always get another one. I have had this one for a year and intend on keeping it. I carry a Queen or a Case knife everyday, but that small Sebenza is always in the other pocket. I have used it to skin small game, taken it camping, fishing, etc..... This one is with me for good. I got a great deal on it, I bought it for 200.00 brand new. Can't beat that!!!!!!
