Why does the Zt0566 look larger in pictures than the specs say.

Every picture I see with the 0566 next to other knives, the 0566 looks way larger than a 3.25 inch. blade. The 0566 next to the 0550, next to the 0562 and next to a manix 2 they all look equal size when all these knives should be larger than be 0566. Interested in picking a 0566 up but not sure of its size. Thanks. Yea I know a little late to the party.

They all look the same to my eye.

My wife's go-to knife of preference is a ZT0566BW modded with an anso pattern CF scale. She doesn't like little knives and although the 0566 looks small by specs, in hand it performs big. She's fine with the AO, although it would drive me nuts.

Maybe this is the further evidence of the age-old conflict: length vs. girth?

I also noticed when im comparing knives in length if you put the longer knife on top it doesn't look as long as if you put it on the bottom. Another way to say it is if the smaller knife is on the bottom it looks bigger than if its on top. No im not on drugs.

I'd like some of those drugs you're not on, please ;)

Hack- Could the specs be a alittle off. Hows the handle length? Is it really only a 3.25 in blade

I suggest watching a little documentary called "Top Secret" with Val Kilmer that outlines forced perspective.

Linear perspective...think of RR trax receding in the distance...
Also related to the incident angle of your eyes in visualizing the objects. Think of positioning your camera to take pics of multiple knives that are laying on the table. If you take several pics with your camera (of two knives) from varying incident angles, you will immediately see what is causing this perceived length deviation. That's why some folks will position a ruler between two knives...which helps to demonstrate reality. Taking a pic from directly overhead seems to be the better rule.

It looks bigger bc it's proportioned very nicely. It's certainly a 3.25" blade. I got rid of mine and got a 0561 for that exact reason.

I know in my photos it has to do with angles between the camera and knives. Unless the camera sensor is parallel to the plane on which the knives sit their relative sizes are not acurrately represented. Knives toward the back quickly look smaller than they actually are. Anymore I shoot most of my knife photos with an iPhone whose camera lens focal length seems to exacerbate this effect.

a little off topic but could ZT make the 0566 in titanium with KVT bearings already?! It would literally never leave my pocket if they did.

Heck no! ZT makes way too many couch flippers already! The 566 is one of, if not the best ZT out there IMO. I could almost settle on the 566 as an edc forever. If the 392 wasn't made into a toy Id have my grail....

What good is it if you leave it in your pocket?

I did have one, but their "economy" move of using a steel back-frame instead of ti was really ignorant. It turned a nice knife into a dumb, heavy, bricky folder and I sold it quickly.

I just got my first 0566cf on a trade and it came exactly as I expected it to. Any specs I see on a knife I usually pull out my trusty ruler and Paramilitary 2 and compare them. I use the Paramilitary as a mockup to try and envision the rough size of the particular knife I'm looking at. Always seems to give me a better image of it in my head.

I'm actually real happy with the size. It's by no means small or light, but I really think it's more pocket friendly than my Para. That may be from the deep carry clip. It weighs roughly the same amount as my iPhone so the weight really isn't an issue for me.
