I had some involvement with maraging steels back in the 60s. In fact my thesis was to make ,HT, test a manganese maraging steel [NOT Hadfield steel !] The idea was to make a very high strength alloy that didn't have the brittleness of a carbon-martensite steel.The applications were typically high-tech ones [it's very expensive with that much alloy !!]. I hadn't heard anything about maraging steel for a long time so I Googled it .What a surprise I got !!! Listing after listing about golf ! They are using it for golf clubs !! I can tell you that the developers of maraging steels where not thinking about golf !!...The only other use I remember seeing is that top of the line fencing swords use it .That at least made me happy as a one time fencer !
