Very little snow here too this year - until now:

I'm struggling to wrap my mind around opening the garage door and finding that much snow.

Does it bog a snowblower down like overly tall grass, or just eat through it like it's no big deal?

Maybe I'm just a Texan who doesn't like snow, but what I'm trying to wrap my mind around is why would someone open BOTH garage doors at the same time and chill out the garage to -600K?!?!?! I'da got that puppy started, opened 1 door, got going and had someone close the door behind me.

I can't wait to get my Yuma back. It's like I'm hooked, I had a small taste and now all Its all I want, well that and every other design Todd makes :D

Getting there. Still need a thin M9 for the kitchen. :D

The military has always been in the picture, at least a little bit, for a number of reasons. But Army or Marines has always been the choice for me

I've got a feeling this is going to turn into a foliage green vs. coyote brown argument.

What argument? Coyote rules, foliage is gender neutral green. Unless we're bringing OD into this. In which case, I'm happy with both.

A little old but i still cracked up. Of course i wouldnt think it was funny if it happened to me, but the video is kind of hilarious.

well, waking up every day is a good thing

everyone probably needs to drink more

The problem isn't that he's waking up, it's that he's waking up too early. Hence the emphasis on "in the morning". Though waking up every day is a bit much.

I found a terrific use for my new anvil today, seem that the horn is fantastic for leaving a vicious bruise on your thigh when your not watching where your going in your shop. :grumpy:

I'm no blacksmith but I'm pretty sure you're using your anvil wrong.

Did BF posting change? There is no open space at the bottom anymore...

well It's getting harder and Harder for me to find local stuff for knife making. I could almost go anywhere and get brass or stainless steel pins.. I found some 1/4" micarta this time around... anybody ever order from fastenal? they have ss in 10 foot 1/4" tube but they have two different sizes 16 gauge and 22 gauge ... I am assuming that .16 would be thicker, right? well here is what I made with the micarta pins

I've used Fastenal several times. Great prices, good shipping times. Not a single problem.

I'll echo Doc's comments.

Back when I was a contractor, we got a lot of hardware from Fastenal when we were building equipment brackets for mounting equipment in combat vehicles. Good strong stuff at reasonable prices and always able to deliver when we needed it.

I also couldn't find the correct size stainless hardware for Becker scales at my local chain stores, so stopped by the local Fastenal and was able to get what I was looking for in person.

Well isn't that just a family picture of sexyness.... That one on the bottom right is speaking to me... that upsweep mmmm me likey.

+1 for coyote brown...

If you like Fastenal, Grainger, MSC etc and don't need it today, check ENCO online. They carry nearly all the same stuff for usually much better prices, and there's almost always a free-shipping deal of some sort going on. They also carry off-brand/import equivalents. But they're not as fast as the others... that's the trade-off. But if you plan ahead a week, you'll save a bunch of cash.

You'd be astounded at the mark-ups on a lot of the stuff from those places, if I was allowed to tell you.

(full disclaimer - my wife works for MSC, which owns ENCO, so I could be accused of bias. But I don't get any kind of discount on stuff for the shop, so... there's that.)

Funny story... first time Angie met Ethan, she saw the Grainger catalog in his shop... gave him a dirty look, took it off his shelf, went to her car and brought him back the MSC catalog to replace it. He looked at me like "WTF?" and I just shrugged. :D

OMG, that IS genius!
And this week I could just sweep the snow off the surface leaving the bar pre-iced.
Dude.

I know, right? And if a guy just mounted an actual 6-pack or 12-pack cooler flush with the top of the table, it would stay cold longer, you could drain it out more easily, and pop the top back on when you're not partying to keep dirt and gunk out of it.

If only I would use my powers for good, instead of nefariousness... who knows what I might accomplish...
