Why doesn't Spyderco Sell Deep Carry Clips?

I've recently gotten into spyderco knives. So far, I have 3 of them. (Delica 4, Salt1 SE and Caly 3.5) I really like them all but I would like the delica and salt1 much more with clips that allowed for lower carry. That is one of the biggest advantages of the Caly over the other 2. Other makers have regular and deep carry clips that are interchangeable. Why doesn't spyderco? They can't cost that much to make if you do it in bulk.

I know there are aftermarket sources for deep carry clips. But, I would think spyderco could do it much cheaper in bulk. (It seems silly to pay 1/3 the cost of a new knife for a different clip) I'd also prefer a factory option if possible.

Hate to say it, but that is one of the big attractions of benchmade to me. I don't own any of their knives yet but being able to switch clips cheaply is a nice feature.

Personally I don't care too much for deep carry. I work hard and it's easier for someone like me to grab my blade when I need it if some sticks out. I know office workers like something less conspicuous but for someone like me that pulls my knife out like 15-20 times a day, I definitely prefer most stock clips.

Same here. I don't like them at all.
I have no need to hide my knife in my pocket at all. If knives are not allowed, it stays somewhere else.
It's much easier to grab it when it's not buried in my pocket.
The retention on deep carry clips is very poor because of the way the tension is leveraged.
Not a fan of wire clips either, very small contact points allows the knife to slide out very easily.

If you need a deep carry clip, there are dozens of people that make them from Titanium and steel in a variety of shapes, colors and configurations.

I don't get the deep carry clips of the shiny variety as the shininess tends to negate the aforementioned. :D Shouldn't it be black and/or matte finish in order to cut down on the conspicuousness? Thoughts?

I don't care for deep carry clips especially on large knives like the Contego, Adamas, 0550, 0650, etc. Like others have said the deep carry clips don't hold well and I'd rather have some handle to grab onto anyway.

A matter of preference I guess but there are plenty of options either way. And aftermarket clips if all else fails.

I like the deeper in pocket carry but I'm not that keen on the more intrusive feeling in hand of many deep carry clips.
Only 2 of my Spydercos have after market deep carry clips because I felt they needed it and are comfortable to use with them on, my Manix 2 XL and Domino.
The wire clip on my Sage 1 is very good though.

In answer to the original question, Spyderco doesn't offer or include optional deep carry clips because they haven't developed one that meets their standards of reliability, durability and functionality.

I like the spyderco wire clips on my sage and manix2. Less weight and seem to be secure.

I love deep carry and have many of Casey's clips. I also like the wire clip so much I modded a Chokwe to use one. Regardless of what clip I have I pull the knife out in the same manner. Thumb in my pocket on the handle and my folded index finger in the bend of the clip to pinch and pull it out. Even if I am carrying a knife that sticks out I don't just grab it by the part sticking out. I like deep carry, because I think it looks silly with too much sticking out. Not trying to hide the fact that I have a knife, just don't like the looks of it. I also don't like overly shiny clips either. Taichung's black clip with the bug logo is a really nice clip imo and I have put one on my Manix because the three holes are all the way at the tip of the handle.

I like the black clip on the para 1 and Military models. I like the way it carries and enough handle is sticking out for very easy extraction but the clip
is sturdy enough that it doesn't come out if I don't want it to. I also like knives that have only one clip mounting point. I really don't like seeing all the
extra holes that are drilled to offer multiple carry options.

The sad thing about wire clip is that it can move around and scratch the stock. I can see scratches on titanium side under the clip of my techno.

Or denim or khaki colored. Whatever the days attire requires.

My Sage 1 has the deep carry wire clip and I like it on that knife. I generally prefer a little extra on the tail end, more to grab on to.

It would be sweet if knives came with both a standard and a deep carry that way the user has some options.

Agreed. The less flash, the better for me.

Agreed 100%, deep carry clips are a big lack for Spyderco. The poor clip was one of the main reasons I sold my Southard, and if they had a proper deep carry option for the thicker knives (think Domino, Dice), I'd be much more inclined to buy one.

It's not all about concealment, it's also about getting the bulk of the knife inside the neck of the pocket, giving your hand more room to maneuver and get whatever you're after.
