Why dont sebenzas ever have problems?

I think Sebs are overpriced BUT they are very well designed and built.

I think Sebs are nearly 100% trouble-free.

But so are Victorinox Swiss Army Knives, and they're inexpensive and mass produced.

I had a Sebenza and got rid of it. I didn't like it. It was not a fault with the knife though. Design, execution and materials were fantastic. It just was not my bag, I thought it lacked soul. I am glad not everyone makes them that way.

Could be the owners are a little more careful in selecting what tasks they are willing to do using a $300 plus dollar folding knife.

Nope, I beat on my Sebenzas. I do stuff with 'em that would wreck most other knives. They hold up just fine. What's the point of having a $300 knife if you don't use it?

I dont think hard use is an issue, ive done alot of camping with my sebenza and even dropped in mud; not a big deal; washed it off in a stream and it was good as new. I think chris reeve spends alot of time on quality control.

Funny you bring this up, come to think of it ive never heard of a sebenza that had a problem. It must be because they use top quality materials and spend alot of time making each one perfect before it leaves the shop. From what i hear each one recieves alot of hand fitting and that in and of itself ensures quality control.

I seem to remember one post by an EMT or somebody like that who had a problem with his folding on him when at a car wreck he tried to stab it into the gap between a car door and frame that was iced over, because the lock on the knife didn't engage, but thats about it.

Good grief. That's not a problem with a Sebenza :) That's a problem with the prybar he didn't bring with him. Besides, I think he said the Sebenza's lock was blocked by some kind of gunk.

I own my second Sebenza right now and i am carriying it almost every day, and never had any problems with it. Sebenza is the sharpest knife i have ever had. Overpriced ? nah! :)

Thats true, I guess it was more of a problem with the lock type/his lack of keeping it clean then with the knife.

As great a knife as the Sebenza is, working as he does as an EMT, under the stress of emergency conditions, a small fixed blade may be safer and stronger -- like a Sable III -- what I see as a fixed Sebenza :D

Because they are so Damn Good!

Give credit to Chris and Anne Reeve as well as all the fine members of their crew, past and present. It is the people that make the product great.

Chris Reeve makes great knives . The Sebenza is well worth the money . I have lots of knives but none come close to the Sebenza. The one and only problem i have ever had was getting dirt or lint in it and it wont lock up ,,, I guess its so well made that even a little dust or lint makes it not lock up that well . All in all its the best knife I have seen or used . I'm getting ready to buy another :)

the design is simple. there isn't much to go wrong. and they guys who make em know what the weakest points are and make sure to get them right. i loved my Sebbie although i wouldn't qualifiy and a sebenza-person. i don't think it's the greatest knife ever to exist. but it's possibly the most well-executed.
