The only time I've ever been "agitated" was on the French Broad. Kids saw us coming down the river and ran down to throw rocks at us. The "parents" were on the porch watching. That had ugly potential all over it. One of the kids was cross-eyed and kept throwing sideways so at least there was that. :D

In Missouri floaters have access to the high water mark just some land owners dont see it that way.

That's really handy if you know where that mark is. And you don't. It's always dangerous to stop along rivers. If you are going to do it, stay close to the water, and if someone says to leave, then leave. There are major disputes over water boundaries and most people don't know what they are talking about.

Its a really bad situation for those of us that like to canoe and kayak.

So can any of you old farts suggest a few songs for me??? Similar to tom pettys, you dont know, or last dance???? Not the message but the sound....I dont like anything hard, heavy metal, music that sounds like screaming, or death worshiping....

Smooth sounding good old tunes on the other hand i like, but i was young during those times so i dont know many songs from that era. I like some tom petty, journey, and steve miller band too....

So any suggestions from you old farts that were still old back then lmao..........

Im getting so disappointed in new music.... I like a little of most genres of music, but lately none of the genres are near as good as they use to be. Rap use to have meaning, but now its all about how much money you got, diamonds in your mouth and big rims.... I dont give a $hit about none of that. What happened to rapping about the girl you wanted, the fight you were getting into, and chilling and smoking... those things i could relate to but this BS about chains hanging low and 28 inch rims is fockin stupid!

Some good "indie/main stream" type bands that play some amazing music...

Built To Spill
Modest Mouse
Elliott Smith
The Shins
The Flaming Lips
Ween (probably the weirdest, offensive, most eclectic awesomeness ever)

Then of course good old Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and The Rolling Stones to round it all out....

Ill think of some other stuff later but thats a quick one two punch of some good bands that I like a lot that are not screaming metal emo nonsense :D

Wow. We've floated the Meramec many times. Always careful where we get out of the boats on any river but this is not cool at all.

50 people in the float trip. I stay out of those mass scenarios. Property owners are bound to be riled when a hoard descends on the bushes for peeing and littering.

Murph, I'm going to need some help mounting a .50 to the deck of my sit-inside.

Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, some Red Hot Chili Peppers, 311, some Nirvana (not too much, it can be deppressive), G'n'R. Classic stuff can't go wrong with Led Zeppelin, the stones, CCR...

Very true but Steel Panther is funny I just cant find anything that is safe to post here lol. Definitely not gay check out youtube ;)

If you like Tom Petty, check out some Byrds. He stole his sound and all his riffs from them anyway :p

Lmao, well technically they all stole their sounds and riffs from someone, but its what they do with it that counts :)

Go Mr Tambourine Man!!!

Copied and pasted... interesting...

Rock and roll music emerged from the wide variety of musical genres that existed in the United States in the first half of the twentieth century, among different ethnic and social groups. Each genre developed over time through changing fashion and innovation, and each one exchanged ideas and stylistic elements with all the others. The greatest contribution came from the musical traditions of America's black population, with an ancient heritage of oral storytelling through music of African origin, usually with strong rhythmic elements, with frequent use of "blue notes" and often using a "call and response" vocal pattern. African music was modified through the experience of slavery, and through contact with white musical styles such as the folk ballad, and instruments, such as the Spanish guitar. New styles of secular music emerged among black Americans in the early twentieth century, in the form of blues, ragtime, jazz, and gospel music.[16][38] Music historian Robert Palmer wrote:[38]

So if they are a white englishman, british, american, blah blah blah... then they got their sound from the african / african american cultures. Interesting!
