why fluorinated grease?

I used to use tuf-glide. It is okay, but the smell kills it for me. I use smooth kote on my Glocks and it works great, but how much lubricating action does a Glock really need...LOL. I haven't tried this on my knives because it dries and leaves a black film as the lubricant.

Now, I use nano oil almost exclusively. I tried Reeve's grease, but it slowed the action down too much for my liking, talking specifically about my Sebenzas. I even tried a mixture of grease and nano oil and didn't like it. It kind of bumped me out that I hunted for and spent $20 on 10 g of grease.

However, I broke my Spyderco Southard down yesterday and used a mixture of the grease and nano oil and it is amazing. It did slow the action down a tiny bit, but the bearing system makes up for it. I will be using this mixture exclusively on at least this knife.

I am a certified, card carrying knife snob. ...but lube is lube. Ive tried several high end stuff including CRK's Grease, Miltec1, MCM, Tuffglide, ect. The most important thing, IMO is a LITTLE goes a long way and attracts less grime. In a pinch, graphite from a pencil or a little dab from an engines dipstick work just fine. The best thing about the CRK grease is the nifty container and the pinpoint accuracy. ...now if he would quit cutting holes in the washers I'd be a happier camper. They collect more grime than they keep in lube. Of course YMMV.
