Why G10 over Micarta in one piece?

I just realized that I have seen many one piece G10 "knives" out there and do not remember seeing any micarta ones. Does anybody know why this is? The only real reason I can think of is the binding material (paper/canvas) is less suited to be ground to an "edge" than the fiberglass matrix.

Any more info on g10/micarta knives would be appreciated.

G10 is much more stable and "hard" than Micarta. The fiberglass / resin combo gives it a lot more rigidity than paper or canvas bonded material.

Haven't tried working it myself. But I just did a 3/4" thick denim for a guy doing a hidden tang.
