Why go sharpened clip-point on an ESEE?

Does anybody have any pics of their ESEE 6 Clip Point? I'm thinking about getting one. There doesn't seem to be many detailed pictures of them around.

here you go

i like it alot, great for lighting a fire, and works really well opening up animals without piercing too deeply.

Thanks very much for the pics! It looks like it might have everything that I am looking for, a really tough knife with good steel that can be used for utility as much as combat.

Nice tool kit for handling pretty much anything. It looks like with the right skills you would have just about every task covered by those 3 items. What do you use to sheath the big one? I'm thinking about buying the same knife without sheath + buying a Condor sheath. I have a reasonable range of knives, but am lacking in machetes and the ESEE Lite Machete looks like a nice one.

I added the 5/6 Molle back to mine factory lite machete sheath with alittle modification

ESEE Lite Machete with ESEE6 Molle back attached to give the Factory Machete sheath more versatility and keeps the lite machete in the sheath as well.

There is some non sharpened blade exposed due to the way the molle back grips the handle but no sharp edge of the lite machete is exposed

After using the edge of my Izula to scrape magnesium from a firestarter, then strike the firesteel, on my last camping trip, I will now take my ESEE-3MILCP along on any further trips. I must have really been doing something wrong, because it dulled the Izula more than I would have hoped, but about what I figured it would. Mostly was rolling of the edge, but still annoying. I'll reserve either the clip of a CP or a dedicated striker for that anymore (which the military magnesium blocks do not have). In fact, it has me seriously considering picking up a second CP in the -4, so I'll have the CP on the knife I really want with me in the woods.

Me too! I fail at spark-started fires, unless it's a mag stick. Ferro, misch, doesn't matter - I always end up dulling my blade, marring the finish, and carving strips out of the metal rod. That's just one of the reasons I prefer the clip-point versions of the 3/4/6. I just wish they made an Izula with a sharpened mini-clip.

I'm not sure what you guys think about just getting a little dedicated striker for your fero's and misch's but I got one from Firesteel.com and am very happy with it. It weighs little, takes up little space, throws sparks just fine, and saves my blade.

God bless,
Adam

Are you talking about the ones with your choice of either a carbide or 440C striking/scraping blade?

Right now, I'm content with stock strikers that come with the LMF firesteels. They work good, and I've been able to get fire from those (not just the magnesium block). And I bought up a bunch of P-38's and P-51's not long ago and have attached those to the magnesium block versions... but I didn't have one for the mag-block I was using during my last camping trip. Not sure why..... But anyway, I took a stone, file, or something and more or less sharpened the edge of the P-51 (at a 90deg angle) so it will strike quite well. Although who knows how long that will last with the metal of a P-51.

Clip points come in for defensive purposes for me only. Other than that, I like a flat spine.
I also thought at first that it is a plus for combat(for stabbing ,ofcourse it helps).
But when looking at my regular ESEE-6..

It stabs everything it has to stab when needed. The blade is already thin and sharp enough to ensure easy penetration.

I even think you can stab 'an enemy' with the ESEE-5 which has a much thicker spine but still has a pretty sharp point.

Knives like the Becker -2 are maybe less good at stabbing.
Well the ones i have seen were having a pretty dull tip.

But maybe that doesnt account for all BK-2's.
