PEOPLE ASK WHY?

Why Carry a Gun?


My old grandpa said to me 'Son, there comes a time
in every man's life when he stops bustin' knuckles
and starts bustin' caps and usually it's when
he becomes too old to take an ass whoopin.'

I don't carry a gun to kill people.
I carry a gun to keep from being killed.

I don't carry a gun to scare people.
I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be
a scary place.

I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid.
I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I'm evil.
I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the
evil in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I hate the government.
I carry a gun because I understand the limitations
of government.

I don't carry a gun because I'm angry.
I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my
life hating myself for failing to be prepared.

I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone.
I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed,
and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.

I don't carry a gun because I'm a cowboy.
I carry a gun because, when I die and go to heaven,
I want to be a cowboy.

I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man.
I carry a gun because men know how to take care
of themselves and the ones they love.

I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate.
I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs,
I am inadequate.

I don't carry a gun because I love it.
I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me.

Very nice.

Once I get older I want to start to carry a gun. I'm only 18 right now, and live in New Jersey so I don't want to deal with the legalities right now but maybe once I move and get older I'll start.

I was considering that same thing just this morning. There is a story out of St. Louis where gangs of a dozen punks will find a victim to beat up for no reason except to express their own depravity. They will beat the person unconscious. And its not just St. Louis. It could be you or me, when we least expect it.

I''m pushing 50 years old. Still doing good physically, but not like I was when I was 25. Would I let a dozen punks bash my head on the sidewalk if I could stop it with a firearm? Bleep yes I would stop it. I'll deal with the Commonwealth Attorney later if I have to. With my skull still intact.

I carry all day, every day, everywhere it is legal. If I can't carry, I think of alternatives.

Last year of school and bought me a Helwan Brigadier (cheaper Egypt made Beretta 92 that I’d carried in Army). I’d gotten a lot of questioning from a couple incredulous students asking, “But why do you need to have a gun?!” Four months out from graduating, I’m single and living alone in an apt outside Cinci and around midnight some guy tweaking is trying to kick my apt door in. Was screaming for some woman, obviously someone who lived there before. My yelling explanations at him through the door didn’t work. I paused and when he paused in-between his kicks, I told him I had a gun and racked the slide just inside the door. Guy fled. Cops would’ve never made it on time to help me, guns are like fire extinguishers.

I shoot back and at 72 eyesight not to great. But i have learned to love my little laser sight. I also have a CWP for the state I live in. Daily caries when out and about.20260203_225758.jpg

This. I expect that some day one of these feral groups of mostly peaceful protesters will attack someone that subscribes to the above sentiment and there will be a few less mostly peaceful protesters in the world.

Plus feral dogs , coyotes , maybe even bears .

But humans are the worst threat by far . Why I live where are there much fewer of them . :cool:

Im in a similar situation. Nice safe mountain town in georgia. Im much more likely to shoot a coyote, bear,snake,ect. I do get trasspassers and deal with them with extreme prejudice!
My minimum carry is a glock 42 with underwood +p ammo and a Busse Liberty Heart or Busse Slay Fillet.
Oh David! Im gonna need a pancake sheath for the Slay Fillet and maybe a few others. Ive found imo. That pancake sheaths work much better iwb. Tacos still have thier place iwb though!
Taco seems to move a bit more freely which is nice for sitting and drawing from the sheath.
Pancake moves a bit but just feels and imo carries better.
I also use the Mummert clips so that probably plays into it.
My normal iwb carry knife is a Busse Liberty Heart in a pancake from David. Jeans and a tshirt and it disappears and is super comfortable.
Somedays I want a pancake and some i want a taco...which is very close to my diet...lol
 
I should add. I never go in the woods without my glock 20 or 40...10mm. Loaded with spicy Underwood ammo.
I go to Atlanta. I go for glock 19,19x,or 34,maybe my 26.
I visit states where I can carry but mag limits restrict me to 10rd mags...glock 43x,42,or 48.
Always have extra mags and usually a 12ga sbs or 1 of my other shotguns. Occasionally the AUG or MP-5 clone i dropped all my old HK parts in...though the parts looked identical. My AK just needs a folding stock and it will take some trips out also.
 
I made the decision years ago that I would carry a gun everywhere legally possible, even riding my motorcycles or going to church ! I’ll at least have my Ruger LCP Max on me at a minimum preferably my shield plus with XS big dots I try to practice with the pistols I carry regularly! When I’m outdoors (mostly fishing the Ohio river or remote ponds lol) I carry a Taurus tracker 4” 7 shot in .357 magnum. I pray I never have to use any of them for anything other than pizza box targets haha
