Hey,
I know it's not really on topic,
but any excuse for a good graphic

ddean,

looks like a copy of my mutal fund account :grumpy:  wonder if there is a correlation?

I think you did the right thing, Dan. I don't see it as stepping on the toes of political freedom, but that's just my opinion. thats the great thing about this forum, the freedom to express yourself and not worry about being flamed. This is what has allowed the Cantina to grow beyond "knife X vs. knife Y" discussions. However, moderation is the key to so many things. It is your job to to walk the fence of forum content, and its up to you to decide what is cool and what is best left for other places. I think you did a fine job with the situations at hand. The content is still there to view if we choose to see it.

I would invite anyone to go check out THR if you want to see heavyhanded "moderation" lately.

They have taken to wholesale banning of multiple forumites, deleting posts that contain links to news articles disproving moderator ideology, and locking threads if other members even try to discuss it.

Pen and the whole BFC staff in general is doing a _way_ better job than those idiots...

Dawi, what's the THR? A gun forum, political? Will you please post a link?

Dan?

That's what's supposed to happen.

mod·er·a·tor (mŏd'ə-rā'tər)
n.
One that moderates, as:
One that arbitrates or mediates.
One who presides over a meeting, forum, or debate.
The officer who presides over a synod or general assembly of the Presbyterian Church.
Physics. A substance, such as water or graphite, that is used in a nuclear reactor to decrease the speed of fast neutrons and increase the likelihood of fission.

Ok, maybe not the Presbyterian definition, and maybe not the Physics one, but the first two for sure. Unless you DO increase the likelihood of fisson, in which case..... er..... uh....

What was the subject?

Kis: in response to your last, when the mod-erator becomes active then he becomes the pro-vocator.

;) ;) ;)

Sorry for the delay in responding Yvsa.

THR stands for thehighroad.org, and as you guessed the events I mentioned occured on their political forum.

Unfortunately the banned posts make rereading the threads impossible--mvpel was the poster most notable for whatever it might be worth.

LOL that was pretty good-- Rusty

A tentative progression :From mod-erator, to pro-vocator, to insti-gator, to term-inator, to insem-inator -------Oopps how did that get in there :D

Thanks Dawi. I'll have to check them out to see what I can see. I'll probably just lurk like I do on most forums.:)
