That's epic hammer work, and it all cleaned up (beautifully)!!!

It takes me that many heats to get close to shape with a hand hammer I doubt theres much carbon left in the steel...
 
Great work Matt! I can't wait to see that WIP thread from you. Those turn out to be some of the best threads on this forum.
 
That's insanely good forging! I can't Imagine getting to .040 edge thickness at the anvil, then grinding, then heat treating, then post heat treat grinding, then hand rubbing, then etching and polishing the hamon, and still end up with the same profile! I would prabably loose an inch on the blade width if I tried that lol Thank you for sharing man, and can't wait to see you WIP! I'd love to see you do it on another blade with a hamon to see all your techniques.
