It's because with each knife there is metal working, wood, antler, bone or composite handle making, often two or more kinds of glue involved and so on. And here's a knife that is half done that was designed by the customer.

Like I said, I did not design this one, a customer who has already bought about 6 of my knives did. So many learning opportunities on just this one. Brass guard (involved cutting a slot and soldering), finger grooves, damascus steel (still needs to be etched), secondary bevel and all sorts of things that get me out of my comfort zone. Never a dull moment.
I guess it all comes down the the variety of experiences involved to finish out a blade. Always something to learn. And please remember this one is not even close to finished.
