Why I like Knife Making So Much

It's because with each knife there is metal working, wood, antler, bone or composite handle making, often two or more kinds of glue involved and so on. And here's a knife that is half done that was designed by the customer.

Like I said, I did not design this one, a customer who has already bought about 6 of my knives did. So many learning opportunities on just this one. Brass guard (involved cutting a slot and soldering), finger grooves, damascus steel (still needs to be etched), secondary bevel and all sorts of things that get me out of my comfort zone. Never a dull moment.

I guess it all comes down the the variety of experiences involved to finish out a blade. Always something to learn. And please remember this one is not even close to finished.

Yes it's the little things that we learn that almost can't be explained until you actually do it.

You know, sometimes you could replace the word like with hate and have the same conversation. :D

The big thing I love about knife making is that it's a creative vent for my mental absesion with perfection.

We probably all got some form of disorder....
The perfection thing really slows me down on new steps or techniques.

And it's really fun when a knife seems to fight back the whole time.

...knifemaking it's just able to erase everything else from my mind as i'm working. Problem is when knifemaking it's still in my mind at home as my girlfriend is talking to me ;)
OCD disorder + knifemaking could end badly LOL
