Why i like simpler blade steels

I actually find sharpening the higher end 'super' steels easier than many lower end steels. The low alloy steels seem to many times raise a burr that is hard to get rid of and flops back and forth. The high alloy steels seem to barely form a burr at all and get hair whittling/popping sharp much easier. For me.

Generally I find this to be exactly true.

Ha, ha though last night I found an exception :

The first (larger knife) CS Pendleton Hunter in 3V is exactly as you describe; very small bur and easily honed off.

The third knife from top (smaller version) CS Pendleton MINI Hunter in 3V I got a floppy little nothing of a bur that just would not go away. I was finally going just against the edge, edge leading only, against my Spyderco Ultra fine ceramic rod. FINALLY took it off.

Maybe she's soft. Cuts good and holds up though.

I've always been interested in the mini pendleton as the ergonomics look great , if only it were in 1095cv.
