Why I love Nalgene Bottles....

Hmmm...Marion, I am not certain if it is the tea or your delightful guide to its brewing; but I believe I have just had a totally Zen experience. (And I used some generic no-label bag!)

Thank you. It really was just that good!

I know, he should perhaps try his hand at romance novels.... :D

Makes me want a cup now. Great tutorial. I do sweeten some teas depending on the type. Oolong, and Earl Grey are good as is. When I do sweeten I prefer honey or I make simple syrup. I can't believe no one has mentioned that yet.

What a great tutorial - I've been making tea this way for years except in a large stainless Thermos, and using a lesser quantity of raw sugar.

For the record, if you're going to love tea this much you really need to realize that the proper term is "steep", not "seep"...

Great post but I like my tea like I like my women.

Bitter.

But I might just start slurping tea in the office to make everyone love me even more.

I can't say I ever really enjoy tea. I like teas made from wild things like pine tea. Its okay at chinese restaurants but that is about it. I couldn't imagine myself circumventing a cup of deep, dark java in the morning for tea. No way! Nope - coffee and whiskey for me.

Then have it with lunch or dinner, or even as an aperitif. ;)

I can attest to the goodness when made with condensed milk!:D

Mr. Poff's method is also an old caver's standby. Learned a very similar technique in the Rockies in my long-distant youth.

See, there I am, standing on the shoulder's of giants again...

LOL:D

MDP- I hold with you completely on the sugar. I don't know why, but hot tea is the only beverage I sweeten. Never coffee. Almost never iced tea. I will use honey instead of sugar, or along with sugar for some flavors or blends, though.

Hot and Sweet.

For mint i add some leaves in the cup. Then pour the hot water over it. I never take the leaves out. The tea bag i would keep in the cup for 5min or so.. As for the lemon i squeeze some before im ready to drink it. For me i dont mix the mint with lemon. Mint is very very good for your digestive system. Great after a heavy meal or when the stomach dont feel right. Also a great thirst quencher on a long hike at room temp.

This mint and lemon thing...

Goodness that way follows...

I just really snowed today, for the season...

And, I am enjoying tea, so I thought I would share this with you all again.

Just a side note: If you ever buy one of those Firefly lids that lights up the Nalgene bottles like a lantern, keep it tight and upright! Last April mine leaked tea all over the inside of my tent and soaked the foot of my sleeping bag. I had to get the fire going again to dry it and went to bed an hour and a half later than I had planned.
Kind of a dumb move on my part but something to look out for.

Yeah I've also had problems with those firefly lids not sealing properly. I like them a lot, but have given up on using them after too many leaks.

Yeah, it sucks because it's kind of a cool/unique product. You'd think they'd make sure it didn't leak before putting it on the market. I bet a simple rubber gasket would fix the issue.
