Why I still go to gun shows

Ha, my local gun show actually had some really nice knives this time around. One table had multiple Protechs, Emerson's, Spydercos, a few custom Dalton's, along with a big selection of traditional folders. Most notably two Reese Weiland full TI Emerson's, a CQC-13 and Super Commander. On top of those he had an early Allen Elishewitz folder, nice gent as well. Another table had a good selection of benchmade's, ZT's, and some Lion steels.

There is always one guy in particular that has Striders, CRKs, Emersons, high end Spydies, etc. His prices on some are high, but the CRKs and Striders are very attractively priced. $350 for a small Sebenza and $400 for an SNG. I'm kicking myself for not nabbing a PD1 SNG from him for $400.

I went to our local show last week here in Vegas and it was ridiculous. Prices that i remember off the top of my head:

- Sebenza 25 $650 +
- Sebenza 21 $650 +
- PM 2 $220
- Delica $95
- Endura $95
- Sage 2 $250

Got the above at a small gun show. Friggin love that old war horse.
Didnt cost much and looked horrible and forlorn as it peeked up through a stack of dirty old cheap hunting and fishing knives.
It was dirty, had light surface rust and looked neglected in its mis-matched cheapo sheath.
I looked at it, thought I already had too many knives, drove home still thinking bout the knife, when home I called my buddy, who worked the booth across from the guy selling the old knife. My buddy made an offer for the knife and a deal was struck.
I got the knife and it cleaned up nicely. Turned out, that part from a few spots, most dirt and grime was only cosmetic.
In fact, I rate the knife as being in a pretty good condition for its age.
One leather washer has a small bite taken out of it (not enough to warrent its replacement), but there is not a single nick in the edge.
Not an expensive knife, but it doesnt have to be expensive or even rare (and rare this is not) to mean something to you....or rather to me.
This old knife 'speaks' to me.

My best gun show scores were a Mike Franklin small fixed blade for $65, a Don Hanson 1995 era remington style trapper for $350 and a Buck Mayo for $45. All are users, but still excellent knives.

I view gun shows as a nice place to take a walk indoors...you're lucky if you find anything worth buying in a knife.

Staffed with a tall white male, and a short Hispanic lady? Late 40's-50's in age? They're here, too.
