Why intentionally damage a knife???

If someone needs a knife at work I ask what for and perform the task for them. A man who doesn’t carry a knife doesn’t deserve to borrow mine.

Although I once made a mistake of showing a French folding knife to a friend, to anyone not familiar they often rest the blade on the spring so you close them gently. He looked over it and before handing it back slammed the blade shut. Rolled the edge for about a quarter the length of the blade.

I once handed a Small Inkosi to my barber to have a look at. He said that I could probably cut a peach with it. So, I left the knife with him. On my next visit, he handed my knife back to me saying that I could now shave with it and that he used a special belt on his sander to sharpen it. The edge was paper thin and wavy. I sent the Inkosi to CRK and they said that they had never seen anything quite like it. They said that they would put the blade in their collection of totally trashed blades. After a new blade was installed, CRK sent the knife back to me with the admonishment that I not let my barber sharpen it. Lesson learned.

A long time ago a friend asked if he could see my Buck 110. He then stabbed it into a concrete wall. That was the last time I ever let him touch one of my knives. On a previous occasion he was admiring my Puma Hunter's Friend, and tested the sharpness by cutting a very deep gash in his thumb.

I'll let you guess what political party he very vocally supports now.

"It ain't mine."
That's not it, they will destroy their stuff just as readily, which is why they don't carry a knife. It's a combination of low intelligence and zero experience; that guy who was cutting tape over concrete probably though he was using the knife correctly. It would never occur to him that concrete may be harder than steel. 😖

Some people don't know. They are not dumb, they've just never used or maintained tools like we do.

I had a friend who put his laptop into a backpack and went on a plane trip. It got busted up by the baggage handlers and was completely broken. I asked him why he put it in a backpack with no padding or protection. He said he had never had a laptop before and he just didn't understand. He learned a lesson from that. Now he knows.

That is the guy I get.

Lend them a knife. And they cut themselves.

As if they just didn't understand how a knife works.
