Why is it that most Women don't seem to GET it?

This is a very select and informed group, lots of specialized knowledge.
As Corduroy said...how many guys don't get it outside these forums?
Even my brother isn't "in" to knives....he appreciates a good knife and can recognize quality, but all he needs is one or 2. He likes my collection, but thats like only 5 mins max as he looks it over.

Besides, if more people were into them, that would triple or quadruple the wait from your fav maker...I vote no.

DC, not to say the prices of knives may even rise much higher then, the supply and demand rule would come even more into affect!

My whole family delights in teasing me about my knife hobby.

They'll sit around and conjecture about what I could be possibly writing about knives:

"The knife is sharp".

"The knife cuts."

"The knife is good."

Luckily, they haven't figured out that "the knife costs $475". Otherwise I'd be in real trouble

Joe, I hope your family is like mine and don't lurk here? If they do, you just let the cat out of the bag

You’ve got to start the ladies out early. My 9 year old daughter Brita has a pocket knife and a sheath knife. She will avidly go through the catalogs with me discussing the merits of various blades. What she really wants is a 38", 9 lb. Janawar Katne khukuri, used in Nepal to lop the heads off buffalo. I figure she should start off slowly though, so I’ve ordered a special little 20" khukuri for her. She can graduate to the big blades once she passes 100 lbs.

Two things, folks:

1) I don't get the Three Stooges either. I think that they are just dumber than Hell.

2) What does LOL mean? I know SOL, but never heard of LOL.

On the internet LOL=laughing out loud

Howard may be right. I was 5 when we bought some land and turned it into a farm. Mom worked in town so it was Dad and I who built the farm (I am an excellent supervisor

). He carried an extra folder that he gave to me everyday, so I could do my "work", like whittling, dissecting lizards and weeds and general important poking around stuff.

DC, now that makes more sense to me now.
My wife told me it meant Lots Of Loving!
I told her it meant Lots Of Luck.

On the forums Laughing Out Load does fit well!

Can you see anyone saying Lots Of Loving to you on the forums?

I've known a couple guys to "jump" in shock when I opened my Delica or Kershaw Liner Action (the latter opens like at auto when done correctly). I'm cutting an apple and they're saying, "Whoa, be careful with that thing!" >

OTOH, once while cutting paper with the scissors on my little Victorinox Classic, one lady said i should be aware that it was a deadly weapon...!>

Another time while a friend and me were comparing our Benchmades a young lady asked why we carry knives. I mentioned one use could be to sever a jammed seatbelt after an accident to free myself. She said she'd find a way out with her bare hands rather than carry a knife...! >

Too bad, because we almost converted her boyfriend...he said, "Yeah, I wanna get myself a knife like those!" and she said, "Oh, no, you're not!"

But basically i agree that about 99 percent women and 97 percent men just don't get it when it comes to knives.

This "girls should like these things, boys should be like this" is completely cultural. It all depends on how society, and more importantly, parents expect the children to act. Now, I have more female friends then male, just get along with them better, and none of them have any problem with guns/knives/cars/hunting and the like. Some of them are country, and some are urban. It was just never impressed on them that they should be these little quiet wallflowers letting men do all the work. A couple of them could probably kick my ass too! My last ladyfriend was 6-foot-even and weighed a good 30lbs more than me, she wasn`t plump. Honestly, I like a "manly" woman. You know they won`t be squeemish, or nagging about stupid little things. I also find they understand me better. It`s pretty cool when you can share things you like with someone you love. Hell, a lot of things aren`t worth doing if there isn`t someone there to share it with. Wipe that smirk off your face, horndog!

Perhaps 6 foot amazons are the exception that makes the rule.

BTW, you're lucky that you don't require the services of a good chiropractor!

Okay, got me! I have seen BTW more than once now, what does that mean? Hope I don't feel stupid once I find out

If anybody calls me a "manly" woman, they'll be picking shards of their teeth off the floor...lol
