Why is it, that no one is interested in the Kit Carson handmade knife chest ??

Like the others have said - you are asking $3000 for it. Honestly, when I first saw the listing I was like Wow - who is going to pay that for a knife chest?
Now if you threw in 4 or so of his knives you could stand a shot of selling it for that. Obviously, everyone does not see the value that you seem to associate with it.
So perhaps you may need to level set your expectations. Just trying to be helpful, and you asked.

MODs > Perhaps this should be moved to GBU??

Not trying to be disrespectful, it probably is a really nice chest, but maybe because for $3,000 you can buy 40 of these:

https://www.harborfreight.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?dir=asc&order=EAScore,f,EAFeatured+Weight,f,Sale+Rank,f&q=wood+toolbox

or 9-10 authentic Gerstner's....

Thanks for the heads up, I didn’t realize they had gone on sale. I like the HF box but for $300+ it was a no go for me. For $75 however, I’ll buy one.

Yes, you are in the wrong place trying to sell a Knife Chest for 3k. Maybe in the Custom section or in some of the Custom Knife Groups on FB.

I’d love to have it!!!

Kit was a very dear friend and I’d love to fill it up with the knives I have from him but that said....it’s $3K plus shipping.

Knowing Kit very well, I know it’s an exceptional piece but out of the realm of most of us here.

Maybe his son would be interested?

OK, Do you have a clue what it might be worth ? I'm genuinely curious ...thanks

I don't think you'll find too many people that value it more than $1000... I personally see a value of about $500-$600. Just an opinion though. Famous knifemaker's knives are usually worth loads of money but a knifemaker's knife chest that he made? I just don't see it... maybe if it was Bob Loveless or Tony Bose?

Thank you for your insight, perhaps you are correct - still seems slightly askew because collectors should have a nice place to put their knives other than a safe. I guess a lower price will answer this.

I am far from any kind of expert... my advise would be to ask for more opinions. If you are really wanting to get top dollar you will have to be patient I think. I would think that finding the right Kit Carson collector that just has to have it would be your best bet... just have to find that Carson collector now!

Thanks for your insight, I had a Carson family friend who for a period of time was getting me Solid fixed blades made solely from meteorite, amazing knives those were, and quite a few more beautiful customs - the knives were incredible.
If you know how to reach Kit's son, perhaps you could direct him to the chest,,AND I will certainly lower the price as it turns out it is obviously too high, so thanks again.

If I may ask you, on another topic,,, I would like to post a link to a site where I have many many pictures of the custom knives that once were listed on my knife selling site (when I was an active dealer) it was " thecustomknife.com" I think members would enjoy seeing so many great knives and great photos. Could you please tell me where I should put the link.
Thanks very much
