Why is my $1.50 Gillette Mach3 refill WAY sharper than my Northwoods?

My wife stole the Mach 3 that I got from the army so I'm afraid I can't test it the proper 'cold steel' way without incurring her wrath. I will say that my dog hair trimmer removes hair far faster than my Victorinox Classic scissors can therefore Victorinox are overpriced junk.
