why is my buck 119 so sharp?

lol we can talk for pages about paul bos and his heat treat but even with that the industry has been so convoluted with super steels that the newer generation of knife collectors dont seem to care. upsets me sometimes when knife makers get flak for sticking with the same steels instead using whats the latest and greatest... some people just dont understand ;)

There is even a lot more to it than that, it not just the steel and the HT.

Well if you are talking about certain custom makers then yes if they did use a different steel their knives would perform at an even higher level than they do now and for some they do really perform.

not just steel and ht? what else is there? alchemy, magic, sorcery? lol, care to enlighten us? :D
define "better", using the latest and greatest vs. something tried and true has always been a great topic to discus.... but probably best done on a separate thread :). what i meant was, knife makers are using their "preferred" steel because they feel its "best".

better definition: of a more excellent or effective type or quality
best definition: of the most excellent, effective, or desirable type or quality

It's called Research and Development. :)

Buck has spent a lot of money over the years.

The steel has less to do with it than the design.

The people at Buck are very smart believe me.
