Why is the ESEE 6 so expansive

So this warranty is it the same kind as Zippo have? That even if i act like a total lunatic and use my knife as a hammer, is the warranty still ther and i get a new one?

Yup. You may videotape yourself breaking it on purpose, give it to a friend, and your friend can send the knife and video to them and get a brand new knife. They don't care who what or why as long as you get a new blade and are happy.

Don't encourage knife abuse. Please. Yes, they'll replace a knife, but it does cost them to provide this service for customers. This isn't an "act stupid with your knife because you can replace it forever" kind of thing. They do it because they're confident their knives will hold up to the rigors of hard use. Doesn't meant you should use blowtorches and hammers on it...that's just ridiculous.

Whats with all the 1095 hate lately? Well...maybe not hate exactly, but seriously misunderstood. No its not supersteel, but IMO its the best all around steel available. Cheap, super easy to field sharpen, tough. If it was good enough for our grandfathers defending the world from evil during the world wars its more than good enough for me.

Hay dont worry im no lunetic :P it was just a question since the main reason i got a Zippo was the warrenty, had the same for 10 years now so dont worry :) Abuseing isent realy my thing ;)

Best friggen warranty on the market. You can even take a blowtorch to it.

Where does it say you can take a blowtorch to it?

I'll tell you. It doesn't. And you can't use them as throwing knives either.
That little tidbit of BS was removed from their warranty after some jackwagon decided he would take them at their word.
You may get a replacement once out of ESEE, You may even get another replacement out of them, but I guarantee that with that second replacement you will be told that you can buy somewhere else.

I'll add what others have already mentioned:

Their heat treat on the 1095 is very good.
I have a Wicked Edge and have sharpened 154CM, S30V, D2 and the 1095 in my ESEE collection.
What I'll say is sharpening is a great indicator of the quality of the steel....

It is a robust gathering of metal particles that cannot be contained within its borders, and so must conquer all neighboring blades or turn upon itself.

Edit: Oh, you meant expensive.

Very good! :D
