Why is the Para Military 2 better than the Tenacious?

I had both, now I just have the Para2, sold the Tenacious.
For me the big difference is the size: sure they're similar in size when opened, but the tenacious is too bulky for my pocket.
You can feel the difference of quality, mainly on the G10.

I am going to pull the trigger in a few weeks then on the Para Military 2. I am thinking plain edge, satin finish with digi camo handle. Thanks for all the input!!

I used my tenacious for a work Knife for about a month and the only thing I disliked was how fast it would Dull ! It's easy enough to sharpen, but that doesn't help out on the job.... A cardboard strop only goes soo far .. As for The para I love it !!!

For me it's the ergos as well. The para2 just fits my hand perfectly. It is hard for me to use a choilless knife now since i've gotten so used to the para.

To me the difference is minor, except for the lock. I doubt day in day out you'll find much difference between the 2 in actual everyday use.

I'll second that. For me, the differences are minor and largely subjective. Hard use guys may prefer the "better" steel with the Para 2, but beyond that I find that the differences are minimal. I prefer the liner lock for ease of disengagement, and like the utility to cost ratio of the Tenacious. Plus, I won't cry (as much) if I lose a Tenacious or snap the tip. I own a pair of Para 2's and enjoy carrying them. But aside from the steel difference and the price, the other distinctions are largely subjective in my view. And for guys like me who don't use a folder enough to dull the blade everyday, the steel difference becomes a non-issue. JMO.

Just additional motivation. ;)

I currently have a Spyderco Tenacious and I love it. I hear a lot though about the Para Military 2 and have seen lots of photos of the knife in the various EDC threads. Aside from the blade steel, is there much else that is different to make it worth several times the purchase price of the Tenacious?

the tenacious is a good knife and a great value (one of the best knives under $50 IMO), but you'd have to hold and use a para2 to really notice the difference. i can almost guarantee that when you get the para2, your tenacious will probably see little use after that. i have a fairly good selection of EDC blades and my para2 sees more pocket time than all of them combined.

Paramilitary 2 - Implementation of a new Bushing Pivot System generates fluid action and more consistent manufacturing tolerances

I've owned both.
I miss my Tenacious. Don't really miss the Para 2.
I was sold on the Para 2 hype. When I finally got one..eh. Just not for me I guess.
It's a nice knife, don't get me wrong. I just hated the compression lock and the knife felt cheesy in hand. Maybe too light.
The S30V on the Para 2 was great. The "alphabet soup" steel on the Tenacious sucked...bad. I was always sharpening it.
I guess for me, you just get way more in the Tenacious for $30 than you do in the Para 2 for $100.
This is just my personal opinion. I'm not a die hard fan of the Para 2. The Tenacious may just be the best buy in the knife biz.
So to answer the OP, the Para 2 has better form, feel, function, and steel than the Tenacious. It is indeed a better knife.
$70 better? ......not to me.
I'm way happier with my Manix 2 than I ever was with the PM2.
