Why Is There A Schrade Forum?

A few of my first posts were on the Schrade forum and I very quickly saw that SOG and Buck handled their forums in a much different manner(more personal and timely responses). After reading a number of threads in Schrade, I get the idea they aren't comfortable in this medium and/or they're afraid of putting things in writing:confused:

By the way,Ron@SOG has become one of the guys hasn't he?;)

The new Extreme Ratio forum has tremendous manufacturer input. I get the feeling that is will remain that way. :)

This guy is seriously great. He interacts with the community so much and takes all of our (spydie fans) thoughts into consideration. He even asks us what models he should discontinue to make room for the new, what variations should be made, and so on. Really a great guy. There is a thread going on now about bringing back the Calypso Jr. under a different name, and when Sal gets back from blade it should be interesting to hear his take on it. Also there was a thread not to long ago about a limited run of flat ground G-10 Delica's or Titanium integral-compression lock Delica's with zdp-189 stainless steel. Talk about a great guy!!:D  :D :p

The Buck forum looks almost or as good as the Spyderco one. Great participation there. Cammilus's forum is pretty nice as well. Extrema Ratio, while I will never buy one of there blades, has excellent participation from the company. A+ for them.

Trane Fan said something about the Benchmade "situation"? Trane fan, I have always wondered why they were not on Bladeforums, but never thought to ask... Why aren't they? Thanks in advance.

yes! post 150!

First of all, they have their own forum at their "Official" site that actually predates BFC and several other knife forums. Secondly I hear they like to control forum content to the point where they require a level of supervision that can only be had on a forum that they exclusively control. Please understand that I read this on another thread and do not have direct knowledge.

Thanks Trane Fan for the quick reply,
I read that in another thread too. I didn't recall it till you said it though. I remember a comment on that thread by one BF member saying how he made a comment about a certain model and they banned him... Sounds pretty rough... That's a shame because I really like Benchmade's products.

Maybe Spark doesn't want to step in and comment, but I'd like to ask how much it really costs to have a forum sitting near-unused. I'd imagine that the only cost involved would be that of storage space and perhaps a very slight slowdown in forum-wide searches.

Are the servers overloaded again?
