I read a question to a maker asking: You have new knives for sale why isn't the one I ordered done yet?
As a maker I have several blades lying in the shop. Some I did for fun others for orders that didn't come out just right. For that design, example a
10" Bowie that came out as a 6" fighter.(Usually due to grinder operator error.) So while waiting on a new order of steel I"ll finish out a couple of blades and put them for sale to help pay for materials to finish out some custom orders. And shop supplies. I do my best to meet my order dates, if its going to be late I notify the customer same if its early.
If a knife is ordered with an 8" blade and I have a finished 6" blade in the stock pile I may finish out the 6" while the 8 is out for HTand cryo.and put it up for sale.
This is just a couple of reasons why you may see a maker have a knife for sale while your waiting for yours to be made. I hope this helps the buyer to see the view from a makers side. and a better understanding.

I know I multitask. You have to or you never get anything done! And god forbid you ever get time to do the fun personal stuff! :D

for every three orders or so I make, I make one knife I like just to keep my interest. It keeps it from being just another job and some of my most creative knives came from that arrangement.

Now see? I just need to get over the guilt of making people wait :D

Sometimes the waite is worth it.
Ivan thank-you for the comments. I can't take credit for the coffin. The guard and pommel nut were coffin shaped . A friend of mine made the coffin. only screws in it hold the hinges on. All held together with wood dowels. His work is art to me.
